I originally was skeptical when I first picked up Twilight last year; I had received the advanced reader from a friend and had put it off for months, since I'm not really that into sci-fi or fantasy books. Even though there is a fantasy tone to it, I couldn't put it down; I finished it within hours completely memorized with the tragic love story of Bella and Edward. I waited a long time for New Moon to come out. I have to say it was well worth the wait. As enchanting as Twilight was, New Moon is even more gripping. Even though it doesn't so much focus on Edward (like everyone wants it to, regardless of whether they admit it or not), it still is as action packed as ever.

I read a review before purchasing the novel, which said that it dragged on in some points and Bella was still the helpless female. Not so!!! Don't believe it!! Bella's a lot stronger than in the first novel, developing some "talents" of her own. It keeps your attention from page 1 to page 563 and leaves you hanging. Which is a downside to the fact that the book was just released giving us a whole year for the next installment to be released.

I highly recommend this series, especially this book, even to people who hate fantasy. There's nothing better than a good love story. And that's what this is, an amazing love story that no one would be able to pry themselves away from the novel and maybe a box of tissues (also recommended... even I cried... several times and I don't like to cry when I read).

Read New Moon because it is simply amazing, the perfect sequel to the perfect story. Stephenie Meyer is a genius, her creativity blossoms in her second novel of the Bella/Edward series.

This sequel to Twilight, though not exactly what most readers expected, exceeded those expectations with an amazingly unpredictable story line- complete with the familiar characters we love so much!

It starts out just a few months from where Twilight left off- Bella Swan is in true love with Edward Cullen, and his family of fellow friendly vampires. But then... a paper cut at her birthday party leads the vampires to have a sudden urge to feed- only on her! In the days following the accident, none of her night dwelling friends are the same- not even Edward- phased and embarrassed by their actions. But Bella doesn't expect Edward to break up with her and the Cullens to leave!

Bella is left in a numb, zombie-like state for months, until she begins to wake from her dream state in January. She discovers that if she takes a few risks, takes just a little step out of line, she is able to hear the warning voice of Edward in her mind! Thrilled at the chance to hear his voice- even if she might be going crazy-, Bella begins to pursue the reckless behavior he made her promise to keep away from.

Let's just say that Bella soon has her hands full. She renews her old friendships- including that with Jacob Black. Rumors of werewolves and vengeful vampiresses are circulating full throttle- and to top it off, she has the challenge of her own mind; forgetting and saving the Cullen’s at the same time.

I refuse to delve an inch further into the plot- to spoil its wonderful tactics would be a sin!

This book is just as amazing as its predecessor- if not more of a thrill ride. At first I thought its lack of romantic outlook between Edward and Bella would be a complete downcast- but I found myself, as I'm sure all readers will, being so drawn into Bella's emotions and struggles that it made not a difference to the book's lovability.

The only thing I have to note to the negativity of the book is that the next installment could not possibly come out quickly enough to do justice to this story's complex ending! Just as everything ties together, it also leaves the reader hanging for the the future! I also wish that we could have been further introduced as to the ways and habits of new characters we are shown- to further understand their motives to come. Well, at least it goes without saying that there will be enough future plots to fuel the oncoming stories quite generously!

Stephanie Meyer's words draw you so into the story; you feel as though it is your heart being completely broken and later completely refilled, just as it is Bella's! Her descriptions and portrayals of human emotion through Bella and the other characters can at times be ardent enough to bring tears to the reader's eyes! Literally!

You want to continue reading so fast, that rarely would you feel any pacing problems a bit! Though quite a large book in length, it fills up the time passing throughout the story impeccably well! I cannot sing enough praise for New Moon!

For all of those that have read Twilight, and have not yet picked up New Moon for fear of 'sequel disappointment', have no worries! Even those who are not particularly fond of vampire stories, as myself, will enjoy New Moon and its prequel of Twilight to no end! What else to say other than that the story of Bella and the Cullens is pure brilliance?

Incredible, astounding, breathtaking, dazzling...absolutely magical. There aren't enough words to describe the impact this book has on a person. It was every bit as sensational as Twilight. I must warn you before you begin reading this book that Eclipse (the next book in the series) won't be coming out until 2007. After reading the last page you'll understand my warning. If I had one wish in the world it would be that Stephenie Meyer published Eclipse tomorrow. I know most people feel the same way because I have yet to find a person who hasn't enjoyed this series as much as I have. This book, like Twilight is extremely unique. It is very hard to explain the way you feel while reading, I can only say that it allows you to comprehend every aspect of human emotion. I can say the same thing for very few books, if I had to describe New Moon in a sentence I would have to say... Painful to put down and utterly heartbreaking to finish.

I finished Twilight on my way home from a college visit and I had to stop in ST. Louis at a bookstore and get the second one. I was so excited to read it, that I was literally shaking.

I'll admit that this book made me cry. I felt that I could feel for Bella so much (while I've never dated a vampire before, I've been in love and had that love leave). It literally made my chest ache and my stomach do flips.

I just, wow. I'm in love with Stephenie Meyer, and I can't wait until Eclipse comes out next fall. It's like waiting for Harry Potter.

Ok, I adore Edward, and I love the way the Stephenie Meyer wrote the first book, but Bella is so slow on the uptake in New Moon. I know that both plots are predictable, but Ms. Meyer writes in such a way that that's usually ok because it answers the reader's prayers(like, "please let him struggle with his love for her some more," etc.) but in the second book, Bella's slowness takes away from that connection to her readers. And I honestly spent most of the book missing Edward. When he finally came back, the lack of drama and closure was rather anticlimactic - I just thought that Edward was more complex than that. Oh well, I hope the third is better.

New Moon is the much-anticipated sequel to last year's exceptional vampire romance, Twilight. When I first got my hands on a thick copy of TWILIGHT, I ended up losing sleep for a week until I finished it. Night after night I could not put down the gripping tale of 17-year-old Isabella Swan and the family of vampires who virtually adopt her - some more willingly than others.

With the thrill of Twilight fresh in my mind, I eagerly plunged into New Moon. The story takes up several months after Twilight ended. Bella has enjoyed a magical summer with her vampire love, Edward Cullen, but as she closes in on her eighteenth birthday, her own mortality weighs heavily on her. Edward will be eternally young and beautiful, while Bella is doomed to age like a normal human.

In this sequel, author Stephenie Meyer starts out strong. For example, she offers some foreshadowing when Bella and Edward discuss Romeo and Juliet for a school assignment. Also, Meyer masterfully set up a potentially epic conflict that must be resolved in the next book. I'm already on the edge of my seat waiting for that one.

Unfortunately, New Moon did not captivate me and keep me awake way too late the way its predecessor did. It was largely lacking in the two things I liked best about the first book. First, the vampiric Cullen family did not feature as prominently here. Yes, Bella managed to make other unusual friends, but these new pals were not as compelling as the eternal Cullens.

The other thing I missed in New Moon was that it did not emphasize the heroine's stumbling, bumbling klutziness. That aspect of her character made her endearing in the first novel, but while it existed here to some degree, it did not provide the same level of comic relief that I enjoyed in TWILIGHT. Overall this felt like a more serious book.

New Moon's rating doubtless suffered from the extraordinary expectations created by Twilight. I loved New Moon's beginning and its end, but I only liked the middle. Despite the criticisms, this is an intriguing tale that I highly recommend. And I can't want to see what happens next.
