The Unplanned Pregnancy Book for Teens and College Students is an excellent resource for young parents-to-be. Williams-Wheeler has compiled a step-by-step guide so an individual can formulate a course of action and gain insight into their purpose in life. The chapters are detailed and offer a non-judgmental description of all the options available. Particular attention is given to determining if you are actually pregnant, how to have conversations with parents and boyfriend/child's father, what to expect during the pregnancy, parental assistance programs, what will the baby need, the 411 on abortion, adoption, future contraception, and an extensive resource section with addresses, telephone numbers and internet addresses.
Williams-Wheeler has taken the time to develop a resource that will enlighten lives and encourage young people. It is written in easy to read language and organized to answer the questions young parents may have. She offers first-hand stories and testimonies from teens and young adults who found themselves in similar situations. There is also a section with questions to stimulate conversation and activities to be used in conjunction with the reading. This is a superb resource for every high school counselor, youth group advisor, or organization that works with teens. Reviewed by M. Bruner for Loose Leaves Book Review

Williams-Wheeler's book is a plain English guide to everything a teen needs to know if they become pregnant. It encourages girls to educate themselves, decide on an option, and act without delay in a situation that could easily be paralyzing. It opens with how to determine whether you are pregnant, then moves to who to tell-and who not to.
The book is comprehensive, giving all the options for dealing with teen pregnancy, and a step-by-step guide through each. It also covers after-care for each option, then stresses preventing a subsequent pregnancy--from abstinence to all other forms of birth control. Each chapter contains stories from girls who have experienced pregnancy-from age 12 - 22. Some were heart-rending. I appreciate that Williams-Wheeler urges girls to continue their education and to take care of their bodies.
An excellent resource for a girl in a bad situation.

Dorrie Williams-Wheeler has written the best guide to help teens and young adults with the choices and obstacles when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. She shares real-life stories that will help encourage anyone when faced with this situation. Mrs. Williams-Wheeler has also provided excellent resources that will lead our young girls and young women to trusted people who can help them regardless of their situation. Not only the young ladies, but the young men can learn a lot from reading this book.
Although there are plenty of choices, she emphasizes the importance of making the right decision for you. Prevention and abstinance may be the best, but when an unplanned pregnancy happens, knowing who to turn to and where to go is most important. I wish this book was written when I was a teen, or when my own children became teens.
Definitely a book that is needed for such a time as this.

This is really an excellent book for pregnant teens and college students. The information on parenting is very valuable to someone who doesn't know much about being a parent. I found the chapter "What To Buy Now, and What Can Wait" very helpful. I bought this book for a pregnant church member of mine and together we used it as a resource guide. This book has great info for young women who are pregnant and their pregnancies may have been planned. The chapter on "Continuing Your Education and Parenting" lists colleges and universities that offer family housing. I never realized just how many universities have family housing options. I commend the author for all of the research she did in putting this book together. The book is a little on the short side but the important stuff is all there. It's very objective and the stories from the women in the book show the upside and downside of unplanned pregnancy.
The author lays out facts about abortion, adoption, pregnancy, and just puts all the information out there without opinion. She also notes programs such as WIC and Medicaid - two programs that low income women can benefit from. The activities in the back of the book are helpful as are the discussion questions which are broken down by topic. The author even has Webquests associated with the book on the books website, the URL is listed on the book. Wonderful book! Kudos.

The Unplanned Pregnancy Book For Teens & College Students by Dorrie Wheeler-Williams is a must read. Any heterosexual couple engaging in a physical relationship should pick up a copy of this book.
The novel is very informative, educational, and compact. It covers the three choices women face upon learning they are pregnant: raising the child, abortion, or adoption.
For the inexperienced mothers to be, there is a list of must haves in preparing for baby. Those choosing the route of abortion, it explains the different procedures and gives an estimated cost. It also gives you information on the different types of adoption.
The novel should definately be required reading for High Schools and Colleges.
Ms. Wheeler-Williams put a lot of hard work and research into the novel. She took the guesswork out of choices. The Unplanned Pregnancy Book For Teens & College Students shows the reader things are not always as bad as they may seem. There are alternatives and options in every situation. The choice is up to the reader which path they choose follow.
