Every recipe that I have tried from Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa cookbooks has been a success (and I really mean this). The Apple Crisp and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookies from "Parties" are so requested that every family member has learned to make them. The cookies have been named the best cookies ever made by more than one friend. Her newest cookbook "Barefoot Contessa. Family Sytle" has arrived!!! With the same clear, simple instructions, beautiful pictures, and easy layout, this cookbook is full of so many favorite & potentially favorite foods (from a hearty chicken soup to a sophisicated lobster cobb salad - which looks very doable & delicious) that I predict it will be THE favorite cookbook in my kitchen.I have never found a cookbook in which there are so many recipes that I know I will be trying. If her prior cookbooks are an indication, all recipes will turn out to be delicious ( and actually the way they are pictured)! I have a group of teenage girls to feed tonight (including a few vegetarians). Pasta with sun-dried tomatoes or penne with five cheeses? That is the question. Thank you to "the barefoot contessa;" you have made me look forward to cooking again!

I am happy with Ina Garten's third cookbook & enjoy the other two as well. Yes, the recipes are simple, but that's the joy of the book. No running to four different gourmet grocery stores to find exotic ingredients. That's not always what you're trying to do Tuesday night after work. These are simple dishes made with great ingredients and presented well. Most of the recipies are comfort foods that have been improved on and some others are probably a few combinations you haven't thought of. So far I have tried: Real meatballs & spaghetti, buffalo chicken wings, roasted winter vegetables, parmesan chicken, tequila lime chicken, curried chicken salad, mustard vinaigrette & herbal iced tea (sounds average but is quite good). Everything has turned out extremely well, and she always gives full menu suggestions and pictures. Can't wait for the fourth book!

Of the three Barefoot Contessa cookbooks, this one is my favorite. Ina Garten's recipes are particularly great for parties, as the vast majority of them are relatively easy and not terribly time consuming. I made a number of these dishes for a New Year's Day party; the turkey lasagne, Buffalo chicken wings and rum raisin rice pudding all got rave reviews from my guests. I also made the shrimp scampi as a quick after work dinner for my husband and myself; it was absolutely to die for. Hands down the best scampi I have ever tasted, at home or in a restaurant. As in her earlier books, most of Garten's desserts and baked goods are heavy on the cream and butter, but most are fabulous. If you're looking for Cooking Light, this book ain't it. But if you're willing to splurge when company is coming, this is really a terrific cookbook.

I normally can't find a cookbook that has more than one recipe I like and use but this book is an exception. I've tried a few recipes from this book and they are great! It's simple to make and the directions are easy to follow. My family absolutely loved everything made from this book. Furthermore, most cookbook's recipes usually turn out to be too salty for my taste, but this book is perfect. All the natural flavors from the ingredients were brought out instead of being killed by too much salt and pepper. Overall, I am very satisfied with this book and am looking forward to receiving another cookbook written by Ina Garten.

If you love Ina on the Food Network, then you will definitely love this cookbook. Ina's amazing ability to pair simplicity with elegance translates so well into her cookbooks, and she gives you the vehicle to do the same in your own kitchen and home. Ina entertains with love and sincerity, and almost all of her recipes are thoughtfully designed so that the cook can enjoy her time with family and friends instead of slaving away in the kitchen. The recipes themselves are culinary masterpieces... feel good food with a hint of elegance. Her provencal tomatoes, parmesan roasted asparagus, and roasted winter vegetables are as simple as they are delicious and they fill your soul as much as they fill your stomach. While this book may lack an overabundance of recipes (at first glance it feels skimpy for the price), it certainly compensates for it in quality. What you end up with is a collection of Ina's finest that will undoubtedly become favorites in your own home. And your loved ones will forever thank you for it!

I love her books. Her recipes are easy to make, and they taste wonderfully. Her style is casual, and laid back, unlike Martha Stewart's style. She takes ingredients you have on hand, or that are easy to find and makes them a bit more special. One of my favorites was her Roasted Parmesan Asparagus, its a great way to utilize one of the summer's special vegetables.

This book is beautifully illustrated with pictures of the food, and the recipes are very clear and easy to read. She offers a variety of foods in terms of appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts. The book deals with food to make your life easier, not food that you are going to spend hours in the kitchen with.

If you are a gourmet, cook, or even if you are someone that wants their food to taste gourmet, I would suggest this book is worth a look.

This book is targeted toward family style dining and comfort foods often with an interesting but tasty twist. The recipes include pictures, easy to find ingredients, and easy to follow directions. You don't have to be a seasoned chef to use and enjoy her book. The food comes out great every time!

I have all three of Ina's cookbooks and whenever I have company these are the only cookbooks that come out now!! Every thing is easy to prepare and I get rave reviews from everybody! Including my kids! Thats impressive alone! The best cookbooks I have ever used, plus there are pictures off all the recipes, which I like. You will not be dissapointed.

I love all the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks (and I have them all!) I think I like the Family Style one the best and have made the most recipes from it. I can honestly say that I usually use one or two recipes from a cookbook (and I have many), but I've used at least a dozen recipes from this book. My favorite was linguine with shrimp scampi. Her recipes just make sense. I have never had one NOT turn out. I would recommend this book (and both the others as well) to anyone. I can't WAIT until her French cookbook comes out in November.

As a recent college grad, and a male at that, I have been told numerous times that I am a wonderful cook. And truthfully, almost every recipie I've been complemented for or asked to make for events has come from this book. Ina Garten's instructions are detailed and easy to follow, her recipies divine, and her presentation is both beautiful and essentially hospitable. The ingredients are also things that people generally already have around, which is perfect for the average person or family. I am finding that this is the first cookbook I turn to when hosting a dinner party for friends or family, even just for eating by myself. For someone who has managed to botch box mixes over these few years, I will hold on to this book and all it contains for years to come.
