I'm not sure when this book came out, but my mom got it from my friend and i read it and its awesome! Its the 5th book in the Gossip Girl series! If you havent read the first 4 then this one might not make sense. So go and read them all and then get this one too! Gossip girl is a series that basically takes you into the lives of Blair, Serena, and their families. Blair and Serena were great friends. Then Serena went off to school out of the country for a year. Blair got jealous and they had instant rivalry. Read this book to find out what happens! And its not just about friendships and drama. There alot of stuff about their relationships with guys... and trust me it gest good! I really like Gossip Girl a lot because each book ends with questions that are left unanswered. If you like Sex and the City then i recommend it! Even if you dont... it rocks!!

Of all the series I probably like I like It Like That and All I Want Is Everything. Mostly because they have new characters and a lot of kinky stuff happens when Blair and Serena come up with crazy holiday fun. Such as St. Barts and this time in Sun Valley.
Nate had been caught buying pot and was sent to a rehabilitation centre. I was pretty happy about that because I wanted to see who Nate really was... when he isn't high on pot. He cleans up but meets Georgina Sparks, a pretty "snow white" look alike heiress, who surprisingly is a bigger druggie than Nate and his friends combined. Now, Nate is out of rehab but his stoned girlfriend still lives there after a freak accident with some pills a couple of weeks earlier. Georgie invites Nate over to her mum's ski condo in Sun Valley over Spring Break and he agrees to come.
Dan, who I'm not that fond of, is in a slump after his hit poem "Sluts". Unable to write anything up to par, especially since his dirty, poem buddy Mystery leaves suddenly on a 6 month world book tour. So there goes his inspiration.. and his kinky private life. His agent, Rusty Klein, gets him a rubbish job at Red Letter and he gets into a confusing upset with his little sister's best friend, Elise Wells.
Jenny is at first extremely happy with her new boyfriend, Leo, but soon drops him when she finds out about his life, his parents and how incredibly boring he is. Since Leo isn't good enough for Jenny's very high standards, he's gone and he's probably not coming back.
Vanessa is done with Dan, and thoroughly pissed off that he thinks he's unbreakable just from one poem. Oh and for cheating on her with yellow-toothed Mystery Craze. Good on her, I say.
And now to the interesting people. Serena and Blair. Blair is going insane at home and imediately agrees when Serena suggests that Blair live with her. A nice break from her crazy mother and hippie step - brother. I won't even begin on Cyrus, we all know Blair hates him. A spark starts when Blair gets some comforting advice from Serena's older brother, Erik, and since he and Serena invited her to Sun Valley for Spring Break, why not have a little well deserved fun?
So what a coincidence they all end up spending the week in Sun Valley and heck, why not throw Chuck in. I need not say this turns out to be a Spring Break to remember.

It's vacation time and we're hitting the road with Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck, Erik and a suprising visit by Nate's rehab friend Georgina Sparks! But of course nothing is ever perfect in the world of Gossip Girl with all their money and fabolous life.
Nate and Blair are rekindling their girlfriend/boyfriend relationship, Georgina Sparks is interested in Nate but he doesn't seem as interested as she is, a little more on the wild side for him. At first Blair has a thing for Serena's older brother Erik whos in college, but it doesn't work out for them. This book in the series is a very short span of time, I'm guessing two weeks at the most.
But of course the drama is good, and its enjoyable, even though it doesn't really add to the plot I still recommend it!

An avid fan of the GG series, I was really excited to find that Cecily Von Ziegesar has released a 5th installment after a dry spell. This segment of the lives of rich and popular (and not so rich and popular) private school new york teens follows them a few days before, during, anda fter spring break. The only reason why I gave this book 4 stars instead 5 is that it seemed much more focused on a very short span of time - one that isn't too long after the last book was set. Its almost as though von Ziegesar wrote the first 4 books with the hopes they would do well, and cover as much of the school year as possible, but now that they are so popular she is trying to stretch the series out by only writing about one week, instead of one or two months of time passing by. A nice possible feature is that the books do not necessairly need to end when the senior year of the central characters of the story ends, since they all go to different schools anyway in high school it is still possible to at least write a little bit of GG in college...there are always those crazy holidays to get the kids back in NYC together again!
Regardless of which the book is still very entertaining and keeps you captivated and guessing as usual, as if you are yourself one of the interested teens curious to find out just who gossip girl is, and check in on the lives of some of the most interesting people residing in New York. Featured in this book - more clues to who GG is, what Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck, and Georgie get up to on a ski trip, whats up with Jenny and her new man, and the fate of Vanessa and Dan.
The next book promises to be just as captivating as it is left right on the brink where von Ziegesar could've let more happen but has chosen to keep us waiting. Until next time, you know you love her books.

I like it like that, the fifth of the gossip girl series, is a continuation of New York City's Upper East Side teenagers. Filled with unlimited credit cards, expensive vacations and exclusive parties these kids have no limits, one of the most intriguing parts of this book. Attending gossipy, private high schools you would think that each of these kids are all the same but to the readers surprise there are a range of differnt kids. Some espcially unique kids are Vanessa, the dark, morbid film maker and Dan the depressed, addicted to caffine and cigarettes, poet. With a intruiging and wide variety of characters you will not be able to put this book down or stop thinking about what your life would be like if you were included in all the drama. Also in this "perfect life" tale the author describes a few of her character like Serena, Blair and Nate absoluetely gorgeous which makes the book all the more apealing. And even though these characters are more gorgeous than jewelry they still have there fair share of problems which leads to an exicitng plot. This book covers relationships, drug abuse, eating disorders, family issues and basically life trying to fit in as a teenager but without limitations. Some of the things that happen in the book are so totally crazy that it just makes you wish you were there or even had the luxuries. Gossip girl is a true tale but an escape to the lives of New Yorks rich teenagers trying to solve life.

I'm a writer who writes for the same kind of audience, and I can tell you that clearly Cecily von Ziegesar really understands young girls and their relationships with guys and each other, and she knows how to turn this into great stories! Her novels kind of remind me of the movie "Clueless", which I enjoyed. Many books geared towards the Young Adult market don't hold interest for me, but this series is different, it's more bold and more hip, and there's always a lot going on that keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing! When it comes to the friendship and love stuff, this is basically what goes on in the lives of teens today, rich or poor. Although, when I was in high school I didn't go on an expensive vacation, but anyway! haha. If you're a girl, I'm sure Blair is typically the girl you know and are bestfriends and then hate her and stop being friends with and then become friends again haha. This isn't the best book in the series, there are better ones, the plotline is kind of not as interesting as before, but it will still keep you hooked to find out what will happen in Book 6! I think the next book will answer a lot of questions and resolve a lot of storylines that this book didn't. Hope it comes out soon. But get this one too, it's worth it! |
