Georgia Nicolson is 14 years old and right in the throws of everything a teenager holds sacred. As we experience life through her eyes we are brought back to a time that was simple yet complicated. However can that be you ask? Just lose yourself in this enjoyable piece of fiction for a day and you will find yourself laughing out loud and looking for someone to share the many hysterical bits of Georgia's life.
She has a cat that is big enough to stalk and eat the poodle next door and a three-year-old sister that smells a bit "hamsterish". She is in need of a first kiss and is learning from Peter who gives free kissing lessons to anyone who knocks on his front door before his mom gets home at 6:30. Georgia will charm you from the first sentence when she introduces you to her Uncle Eddie who is as "bald as a coot" and can't pass up a chance to ask her, "Should bald heads be buttered?". The scenarios are endless as well as hilarious. This is a wonderful light and quick read when you just want to have a laugh and remember how it was to be a teenager.

I don't think I would have ever found this book, let alone picked it up had it not been for several members of my online book club. Georgia Nicolson is a delightful character, who takes us along for quite a ride in her personal journal. This book can easily be likened to a "Bridget Jones' Diary" for teenage girls.
I found myself laughing out loud many times throughout the book... I'm sure as adults we can all remember back to our early teenage years when we thought our parents were so embarrassing. Reading what Georgia thought was reminiscent of how I felt at her age. Rennison does an excellent job of writing with all the angst of a teenage girl. Her description of thong underwear and the point of them had me in hysterics!
I am greatly looking forward to reading "On The Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God!" Rennison is definitely an author to be watched!

Fourteen-year-old Georgia feels like there's nothing going right in her life. Her father announces that the family may have to move to New Zealand, where he's found a new job. Of course, Georgia doesn't want to leave England, where all her friends are. She has a huge crush on a boy named Robbie - who doesn't seem to like Georgia back, but is dating her worst enemy. Plus her little sister can be extremely annoying and she thinks her mom might be having an affair with a repairman, school is nightmare, and there's the matter of her huge, horrible nose. This was a hilarious book about in a year in the life of Georgia, a British girl who manages to do everything wrong and nothing right. I can't wait to read the sequel.

I'm an adult female who reads absolutely everything, and I picked up this book because of it's unusual title. I started reading and it was so laugh out loud hilarious that I bought it on the spot; I couldn't help it. I could not imagine leaving the store without it. I am now passing it on to friends so that they might enjoy it. The book is very reminiscent of Bridget Jones Diary, but is far more funny and the main character is more likeable. The author uses the most unusual words and provides an also funny glossary of them in the back. Basically, it's a year's worth diary of a 14 year old girl in Britain and her quirky viewpoint of the world (including her parents). The descriptions are hilarious and I highly recommend it to kids and adults alike. It's a don't miss! I don't see how this book can do anything but sell like hotcakes as soon as word spreads.

Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging was just the novel I needed after many heavier reads. Louise Rennison has captured many teen moments that were hilarious to relive!
We are introduced to 14 year old Georgia Nicolson, through her diary we live her experiences with: boys, friends, appearance, her nasty cat, Angus, a little sister, and the dreaded parents. Georgia's antics were hilarious and I was able to take a walk down memory lane as I remembered the many eyebrow disasters and parental embarrassments!
Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging is not just for Young Adults. I would encourage everyone to pick up a copy; you will not regret it! If nothing else, after you have read this book, you can give yourself a pat on the back for surviving those teen years!
I am so glad that I found Georgia Nicholson and I will be quickly purchasing: On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God: Further Confessions of Georgia Nicolson and Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas.

I remember when I first picked up this book, I was distracted by the rather bizarre title. I was thinking "Who in the world would read this book?!" Well, now I'd say a lot of people would. I later bought it on impulse and I loved it! I recommended it to my friend (who also balked at the title) but eventually read it and loved it. Angus presents a fresh, realistic character-Georgia Nicholson, a fifteen year old Brit teen. Her family is eccentric and delightfully silly. Her mother, who basically lets Georgia do what she pleases in order to avoid conflict. Her father, who is, in Georgia's opinion, very overprotective. Then there is her bald Uncle Eddie offering her rides on his "prewar motor bike" and her 3 year old sister, Libby, who uses Georgia's foundation on her stuffed toys and creates hammocks for her dolls from her sanitary pads. And of course, the 1/2 Scottish wildcat, Angus. Her friends are similar in that they are likable, quirky and realistic people.
During the course of the year, Georgia ends up shaving off her eyebrows, standing up to the school bullies, and stalking her crush's girlfriend. This book chronicles it all in journal format, including her own witty comments and observations. Though she has her faults, Georgia is a likable character with a good heart. You will find yourself cheering for her and laughing with ( and sometimes at) her. I can still crack up when reading certain passages in the book. What is so appealing is that any teenage girl can relate to- the more I read of Angus, the more I saw Georgia in myself. If you want a light, easy read that will make you laugh out loud, this book, reminiscent of Bridget Jones' Diary ( Angus is like the teen version), is perfect. And if you like it, I highly recommend the sequel, On the Bright Side, I am Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God. It is also funny, if not more hysterical than the first.

This book describes exactly what I went through at 14, well, except for moving to New Zealand. I love Rennison's humorous take on everything.. but I wouldn't let anyone under 13 read it. The book deals with sex, especially gay and lesbian jokes that younger readers probably would neither like nor understand. Throughout most of the book, I could not stop laughing, the eyebrow plucking, finding an apron in her father's sock drawer, regarding her crush as a "sex god" and referring to her mother and father in German nicknames "mutti" and "vatti," repectively. Regarding her parents' possible separation, Georgia is conflicted between which of the two she would rather live with. (If I go with mum, I'll have access to makeup and clothes, so long Vatti!) If you want a good read for spring break or summer vacation, "cheers," you just found it!

When a friend lent me Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, I basically shrugged and thought, "Okay... Well, whatever, I don't have time to go to the library today." After I'd flipped through it, though, I decided that it looked pretty funny, and I couldn't wait to read it when I got home. The result - I was up late muffling my laughter while I read this book!
Georgia is a 14-year-old modern British girl, and this book is her diary of a year in her life with all of it's (ever changing) ups and downs. Her sarcastic views are generally hilarious, and that makes this book a definite page turner.
I hope the sequels will be just as good, and if you're looking for another laughter-filled epic of a teenage girl, try the Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor - or for other funny, diary form books, Truth or Dairy and Catherine Called Birdy.
For any teen/preteen girl, reluctant reader or not... Try reading one page in this book, and see if you can put it down!

When I first saw the book that my mom had bought me titled Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging I thought she had gone mad and I hesistated to pick it up considering I'm not the type of person to talk about kissing or lingere. Actually I'm the last person to talk about any of those things but curiousity got the better of me and I took a look at the book, then it was too late... I was hooked. The note from Georgia in the beggining of the book would have grabbed anyones attention. The reader will follow Georgia through her Diary as she encounters adventures and misadventures. In this book Georgia struggles through hilariously chaotic life dealing with "Gorgey" boys (a particualar one named Robbie), half-wit parents, a self-absorbed best friend, and a large, mad scottish wildcat named Angus for a pet. I recommend this book to any teenage girl...Warning...This book is not a book of morals... it is a fun and easy read that will leave you rolling on the floor laughing. If you read this book and did not like it because you thought the characters were shallow I suggest you take life a little less seriously and just have a good laugh... enjoy life. I enjoyed this book, read the second book (which I enjoyed as much as the first) and are anxiously awaiting the arival of the third book. Remember don't always judge a book by it's cover and curiousity doesn't always kill the cat! Have fun reading!
