Simple text describes 4 different types of freight cars, the caboose, the tender and the steam engine. The six basic colors plus black are used for each car and therefore this is an ideal way to teach colors to the little train-lover. Very fast read and my son pleads me to read it again. I don't mind, as this is not aggravating in any way (as some of the board books are). Sturdy board book construction. Great book! |

This book has short phrases on each page, and the entire story reads like a non-rhyming poem. I believe that the rhythm of the verses, along with the clear bright illustrations, is what drew my son to this book, even at 10 months old. For his 3rd birthday recently, I made train decorations based on the illustrations in Freight Train. He still enjoys the book and now "reads" it to himself. Preschoolers can easily memorize this wonderful book. |

This book gets a lot of use in my daycare home. Of course it's a favorite with the train lovers in the group, but everyone enjoys it. It's beautifully illustrated, so even the older readers like to look at it. The 8 year olds will remember the book from when it was read to them when they were younger and love to read it to the younger ones. The non-readers like the simple text and how the book flows. It's a perfect before nap time book. |

This book belongs in every childten's library. I have 4 children ranging in ages from 20 down to 2 years (only 1 is a boy). It is a book I should of bought years ago. I just kept taking it out of the library. This time, I will buy it!
This is a perfect example of "a little goes a long way!" It's simple text and clear & colorful illustrations have made this book a favorite of all my children. |

This is a real winner. The pictures are wonderful and very creative. What little bit of text there is does not detract from the pictures. My two year old loves to "read" this book. He even recognized "gone" when the train is gone.
For any child who likes trains, this book is a must. Even children who are not into trains will enjoy this book because of the interesting pictures and easy 'story' to follow. |

This is the best book I have had for little guys. All of my children Loved saying the color of each of the cars! It's definitely a pre-reading book, or just learning-to-read. I would recommend it for toddlers through preschool. They have short attention spans and long books are not always the best choice. This book offer vivid illustrations, easy to remember verse, and best of all teaches colors. |
