This book opened a new door to me. I remember to grow ever more enthusiastic as I read through its pages for it showed me a whole new world. A gust of fresh air made me realize the overwhealming advantages of partly owning a great company in the stock market at a reasonable price as a small investor. I quit looking at the stock market as a simple casino and turned serious attention to it for long term investment. Not only did I find the studying of different companies by fundamentals and the process of investing very fun, but also financially very rewarding.
Today I want to thank from these pages Warren Buffett and Robert Hagstrom for contributing to the spread of financial common sense in a world where the lack of it is stunning. And above all, for the privilege to read this masterpiece on investing and get an insight of Warren Buffett investment style.
This book is strongly undervalued and should be bought by everyone that cares about his financial future. Strong buy recommendation. Full of wisdom and fun to read. And I owe to it my personal financial success, averaging 40% yield per year, just applying the investment principles taught here. |

I was fascinated when I first read this book. It was during my junior year in college when I struggled to comprehend vague ideas such as covariance between stocks, portfolio variance, beta, etc. This book opened my eyes. It was like a fresh breath of air.
Hagstrom does a good job at introducing Warren Buffet's way of investing. The book is a mandatory reading for everyone who wishes to invest money in stocks. As other reviewers pointed out, Hagstrom doesn't reveal anything new about Buffet's investment style. You can find the same information, and much more, from the source: The Berkshire Hathaway Annual Reports. Hagstrom, however, offers a well-written and fairly accurate presentation of what can be found in Buffet's letters to shareholders. It is a good introduction to value investing. |

I always thought that Warren Buffet made his fortune like every other crazy stockmarket freak, i.e until I read this book. Hagstrom explains how Buffet is able to rises above the market chaos. A must read for anyone interested in investing in the stockmarket. |

First published in 1994, ten years ago the Warren Buffett Way introduced us to the way he evaluated and chose stocks. Since that time, his magic has continued --he is number two on the Fortune list of the richest Americans, and the only one in the top five who made his fortune in the stock market.
His basic rule is very simple: invest in businesses that are simple and understandable, have a consistent operating history and have favorable long term prospects. Now, keep that in mind while the world is changing about you, while people are crashing airplanes into buildings, going to war in Iraq, through inflation, deflation, stock booms and busts, and all the personal troubles that we fall into.
This second edition is completely revised and brought up to date and includes two new chapters that help to update and revise his strategy. This is one of those books that you simply must be aware. |

This book is an easy read and good summary of the Warren Buffet's thoughts woven through the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Reports. Mr. Buffet's record was simply awesome. Over the thirteen years of its existence, from 1957 to 1969, his limited partnership returned 29.5% per annum or 22% per year better than the Dow. Over the forty years from 1965 to 2004 Berkshire Hathaway's book value has increased 21.9% per annum or 11% better than the S&P 500's book value. The book captures the essential stock picking thought process he used in some of his best known investments. It does not, however, discuss other investments Mr. Buffet has made such as longing silver and junk bonds and shorting the dollar. I would also suggest The Essays of Warren Buffet. |

Warren Buffet's investing success is legendary, but what are his secrets? Mr. Hagstrom has compiled a wealth of insights gathered from Buffet's public statements, research into his mentors (most notably Graham and Dodd) and some exchange with the subject himself. The book is an easy-reading overview of the principles applied by Graham and Dodd value investors, along with the peculiar tweaks made by Buffet (and his partner Charlie Munger). Of great interest to the reviewer Hagstrom evaluates several of Buffet's particular stock purchases - while there are several fantastic winners, the book also recognizes some of the big losers Buffet picked along the way. Realtistic... but encouraging nonetheless. |

As an abnormal investor, I have noted Buffett's investment strategies as being almost the same as my own, except that I do not have the financial backing or expertise of the "sage from Omaha". Truthfully, with the track record that Warren Buffett has demonstrated, why do investors follow the theories of other "gurus" that went to MBA school just to network and not learn a [darn] thing about business strategy and how to identify true value? While I did find the author a tad hard to follow at times, the information gave me insight into how Warren Buffett makes his superior investment decisions. |

Reading this book gives one the essential knowledge of a successful investment strategy. The book is not meant to make you rich, but establish a wealth of knowledge through a voyage into the mind of one oof the greatest investors of our time. The essential message of the book is buying value within your circle of experiance. The author outlines the people who influnced Buffet's way of thinking, and thier theories on investing. Great read. |
