WHAT IS IT? A STURDY FUN BOOK THAT IS A TERRIFIC LEARNING TOOL
Essentially, we go through a day with Thomas and it all rhymes. We can read it to our children, and then allow them to explore the book and peek under the more than 60 flaps that have something hidden inside. The book features colors and numbers, followed by sizes, shapes and letters. Everything in this book with be familar yet new to any young fan of the Thomas The Tank Engine series.
BOTTOM LINE: IT'S A GOOD THING THAT THIS BOOK IS STURDY BECAUSE KIDS REALLY GET INTO IT!
It is all very simple, but because children tend to explore this book over and over, the colors, shapes, numbers, and letters tend to become familar and painlessly learned as the book is frequently explored and examined.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my 4-year old niece, who absolutely LOVES Thomas; both she and her younger sister (2 years old) can name each and every engine, including their colors and numbers. In fact, just as Thomas appeals to a wide range of ages, so does this book: my younger niece enjoyed just lifting the flaps and looking at the pictures, while my older niece could actually engage in the educational activites (e.g., counting the number of items, finding things that are big, etc.). There are MANY flaps on each page, and they hold up well to repeated openings of little hands. If you have any children in your life who are fans of Thomas, trust me, they will LOVE this book.

All lift-and-Peek board books are great, but if your child loves Thomas as much as mine, he'll carry it with him whereever he goes; read it in the car, at bedtime, and all other times of the day. Our 3-yr-old son actually got 3 of these books (all different) and between the 3 of them, he just can't read them enough. This one is his favorite, as there are SO many flaps and the book is so big--and a big bonus-it's educational too! Lots of things to learn about in this book--practicing colors, counting, and the abc's. A must-have for Thomas lovers.

I bought this book for my then 20 month old Thomas the Train fan. At first, he enjoyed opening the flaps and seeing the surprises behind. Then, as he began to learn all his numbers and letters, he enjoyed playing the "show me what's behind the letter B" game. Now that he is 26 months, he is up to the challenge of remembering what is behind each flap before we look. This book is growing with my child.

This is a great value for the money. I have a 2-year-old and he enjoys this book so much I have to read it to him every night. He loves all of the hidden things below the pop-up windows, there are tons of lift-and-look windows for children. Great value and it's a large board book, perfect for toddlers.

We bought this book for our then two-year-old and it is still his favorite of all his books. The flaps are not as sturdy as they could be, he's torn a few and the Elmer's glue thing has been initiated, but all-in-all, it's a fabulous book and teaches counting, the alphabet, objects, shapes, etc. It's just such a cute book and is without all the negative things that the regular Thomas books has (i.e. name calling, put downs, etc.). This really isn't a Thomas book per se, but more of a basic let's go to the train yard and see what's going on type of book. I highly recommend it for the train lover in your family. It's one of the nicest books we own.

Pages with only one flap on them? Why waste the space? This book has flaps upon flaps upon flaps, so many that sometimes my two-year-old will reach for another one I've missed as I'm starting to turn the page. The last page alone is several minutes worth of flap-flipping fun. Even if your child isn't a huge Thomas fan, this is a fun book with lots of hidden things to find on each page. What's underneath will help teach colors and numbers and letters. And if they like Thomas, than they'll love this book. There's a logical progression from page to page if no actual story, but the fun in this one isn't reading out loud, it's finding flaps, lifting flaps, trying to remember what's under flaps. Highly recommended.

...so much that he takes it to bed with him many nights. There are so many different things to look at: letters, numbers, surprises. Each two-page spread is a different scene. We've had it for 5 or 6 months now and he's not tired of it yet!
We gave the book as a gift to a three-year old, and he probably spent more time with the book than any one of the myriad electronic gadgets and oversized presents he got.
This book is a "must-read" for any Thomas fan.
