I would highly reccomend this book, for anyone interested in having a natural childbirth, or anyone just wanting to learn more about experiencing labor. I was not 100% sure about a med free birth until reading this book, now I am confident I can do it, and I know it is the best thing for my baby and I.

As a Corrective Exercise and Lifestyle Success Coach, I thought I knew a lot about what to expect with a natural childbirth as compared to a hospital experience... but even I was surprised to learn the things I did.

I was particularly interested to find out much easier it is for a natural birth and how difficult and prone to drugs and surgery the hospital setting is. The hospital setting starts a detrimental "snowball rolling down the hill" from the moment mom lies on her back (the worst possible position for labor).

BEFORE YOU HAVE YOUR BABY, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.

This book (along with the Bradley classes we took) was incredibly helpful during my daughter's birth. It really helped prepare me for what to expect. Remembering the illustrations and descriptions of what exactly was happening in my body during the contractions helped me relax through the contractions and allow my body to do the job it needed to do. We had a totally natural, unmedicated, home birth and with the help of this book, it was a wonderful experience. Labor and delivery were no more painful for me than menstrual cramps and pushing actually felt good, it was strenuous but not painful, I know this experience is due to knowing what was happening in my body.Good Luck!

I really benefited from reading this book. My first birth 9 years ago was the opposite of how I want my upcoming birth to be. I am able now to make extremely informed decisions about my birth by using this book along with taking the classes in conjunction with it in order to be completely natural if at all possible. I love the methods and the way they are explained. It is clear cut and a must-read for any expectant couple to read together. This team approach is the key to planning a natural childbirth experience. Often times it sounds like the father will be working harder than the laboring woman! I am excited to put Bradley to the test in a couple of months.

The Bradley Childbirth method is simply and clearly defined and taught in this easy to read, handbook-style guide. After a 22hr labour using Demerol, and an Epidural resulting in a C-section delivery I was determined to find a better way. I read about the Bradley method and got this book. Since I am from Canada this book was my only source of teaching for the Bradley method as there are very few qualified teachers up here (and it is very difficult to even find the book). I am happy to report a hard-working but not painful completely natural second birth and I credit it all to my training received from this book. I believe it can truly transform a woman's childbirth experience and recommend it to every pregnant woman I meet.

You owe it to yourself and your baby. How you bring your baby into the world will affect your child for the rest of his or her life. This book is an education on natural birthing and the Bradley Method. It explains all the changes (mental, physical, hormonal, etc) that a pregnant woman goes through, what she needs in labor and how the coach (usually husband) can help.

After reading the book and taking additional Bradley Childbirth Classes, the mystery of birth and fear of the unknown has lifted. I feel totally prepared and ready to welcome our little one.

A fantastic book! It is packed with useful and applicable information to prepare you for a natural childbirth. I am 6 months pregnant and feel a great amount of confidence in myself and the natural birth process after having read this book. It also raised several questions that I hadn't thought of related to episiotimies, c-sections and induced labor that I was able to take to my midwife. My husband and I have faced a lot of concern from family and friends because we are using a midwife at a birth center and intend to do it drug-free...this book is ideal at equipping you with the necessary information to stand-up for and defend your beliefs!

This is a tremendous book. It is the best childbirth coaching book I have read. My sister lent it to me a few days before I had my first daughter and it was the only source that helped me understand what I needed to do and how important it is to relax, breath and work with rather than against your body. I was able to have a fully natural, easy birth with no medication. I had to re-read this book before having my next kids and I recommend it to everyone I know!

If you can invision the process of childbirth, you've conquered at least half the battle to a healthy and drugfree delivery. You will understand the process quite perfectly after you have read this book. From a husband's point of view, this book delivers a very clear picture of the childbirth process. Very clear, concise and informative. One rather irrelevant negative - I don't quite understand the title - ... The Bradley Way? Huh? ... It's the "natural way".

won't write in length because what I have to say is exceedingly simple - BUY THIS BOOK. I've scanned a lot of books in this genre before my wife and I had our first child, and this is by far the best one. Beautiful photos and diagrams, crystal clear explanations of both the process and the details, and excellent and intelligent advice - what more can one wish for?

This is not just a book for fanatic home-birthers. It has tons of invaluable advice for people who plan to have an absolutely standard hospital birth (e.g., when to go to the hospital, what do different things mean when you are there, what the process is like, what you want to have done and what you don't etc.).

In short, this is an excellent book in my eyes and if I could give a book more than 5 stars I would it here. Perhaps I am making myself out to be foolish, but I really do think the world will be a better place if this book is read by mothers to be. It sure helped my wife and myself.

Enjoy it and have a great labor.
