I will always be there for you. That sentiment, that commitment, is at the heart of this book. My favorite book by this renowned author, its clever, reassuring story and captivating pictures will soothe your infant or toddler. And when and your little one is asleep, read it again, to yourself. Don't be surprised if its simple beauty mists your eyes a little. A book that will be treasured for years to come.

This book exemplifies everything that a children's book should be. On a good day, or on a bad day, this book fills your heart with true and beautiful love for your children, and teaches you, the parent, as well as your child, just how very much you love them, lest you should forget for even a moment. I absolutely love this book. So do my kids.

A book about a mother's unconditional love, this book is best when shared! It was a favorite with all three of my sons when they were little - it was also a favorite of mine. This is definitely a "snuggle up" kind of book; it's warm and fuzzy without being silly. The little bunny dreams up creative ways of running away and the mother bunny comes up with ways of bringing him back that are lovingly creative. If you know a new mom (or are one yourself) be sure they have a copy of this classic.

I love The Runaway Bunny and my kids love it too. It makes us laugh, brings us closer together, and helps reinforce the most important lesson my children can learn "A Mother's Love has no limits." We laughed at the young bunny's frustration, marveled at the mother bunny's persistence, and discussed the love and commitment that strengthens our own family. The Runaway Bunny has been a useful tool in reinforcing my dedication to my children. As young children enjoyed the pictures. It's small and simple, but the lesson is profound.

This book is probably one of my all time favorites. It’s about a baby bunny who wants to run away from his mother and each time he imagines what he would do when gone his mother is always near him. The thought is the most wonderful thing. A must for anyone!

I wept the first time I read this to my infant daughter. Now she's a toddler and we read it together several times a day. It's a sweet book with wonderful illustrations. Look for the picture that's of the same room featured in "Goodnight Moon."

Brown's story of a little bunny who plans to run away and the mother bunny who plans to follow, no matter what, is marvelous. The illustrations and language are superb, and with a simple storyline, Brown conveys the depth and steadiness of the mother bunny's love for her child. Some readers interpret the mother bunny as an inspirational God figure, while others interpret the mother's insistence on following the young bunny as creepy. Both perspectives can be supported. But I continue to read and enjoy the story as a parent's clear expression of love for one's child; the story is moving, without being saccharine. The little bunny is-after all-"little" and is threatening to run away, not to "grow up." Before they can spell, many children threaten running away just to test a parent's reaction. Here, the mother bunny responds with grace, patience, and reassuring love-and with that exquisite final carrot. Surely when little bunny grows up and does leave home, it will be with the knowledge that mother's love is along in spirit.

This is my absolute favorite book to read to my kids. My daughter knows which book I'll choose if she let me choose the book we read at bedtime. She reminds me not to cry every single time we read it. It is so heartwarming and touching. So comforting, reassuring the baby bunny that it's mother will always be there... no matter what he does or where he goes, he'll always have her to come home to. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! A must-have for your child's library, one that they (and you) will cherish forever!!

This precious story is not about a mother's smothering abuse of authority as inferred in another's review. It is about the love that goes with your child, despite their choices, affirming their independence, and supporting their life. Our kids want to try their wings. A parent's love follows them through good times and bad. It speaks only to the constancy of that devotion.

When Margaret Wise Brown was teaching at the Bank Street School in New York City, she learned that the best children's books developed from children's curiosity and spoke about the world in a style familiar to children. The repetitive, predictable text in The Runaway Bunny builds a child's expectations and encourages following-along and saying the lines with mother bunny and her adventurous baby boy. The detailed drawings by Clement Hurd alternate between black-and-white and color; the black-and-white ink sketches seem to present the little bunny's desires to run away, while the colored images portray the mommy bunny's responses: to catch and comfort her boy, mommy bunny becomes a sheltering tree and a kind gardener. In addition, with no text to tell a story for them, the colored pictures let the children tell their own stories about the problems mommy bunny is having finding and holding onto the little bunny. Little bunny is hidden somewhere in each of the colored drawings, so it is an adventure for the readers to seek him out - it's as if he is running away from us, too! Far from being too advanced for the smallest children, this board book version of The Runaway Bunny can become a child's friend. My own children nibbled at its corners in the car and slept with it at night.
