There is much more detail in the fourth installment about Harry's and other's lives, which makes this a bit longer than previous books in the series... but it's well worth it. The writing itself seems a bit more mature and polished... as if J.K. Rowling needed any more of that. I guess what I mean is, there is a tendency for the books to seem a little more mature in material as they progress. The opening is different, in that Harry gets to see something in a vision that bears on the rest of the book. Relationships between members of the opposite sex become more of an issue, and you start to wonder more about who Harry's going to "get together" with.. if anyone...as well as his friends' love lives. The Goblet itself is a magical device that announces the contestants in a tournament between magic schools, but I probably shouldn't give much detail about that. The battle between good and evil escalates and the consequences of such battle becomes more evident and personal pain ensues. This book is about 300 pages longer than the third one, which was longer than the first two by about 100 pages. Since the third movie actually felt cut too much, and had many mistakes, one can only hope Goblet of Fire will get the justice it deserves. It is rumored to be the most expensive movie to be made so far...so maybe that's a good sign. This is definitely one to sink your teeth into...the book is always better than the movie! |

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is an intriguing book. This book seems to have an appeal for every age group. This book is about a young wizard named Harry potter who is in his fourth year of school at Hogwarts. Harry learns that the International Wizard Tournament has been reinstated and will take place at Hogwarts this year. Harry is shocked to find out that his name has been picked to compete even though he is too young to enter. You really have to read this to experience the overall bravery and virtue that Harry displays during the obstacles that he endures. I was a little timid to read Harry Potter because I thought that this book was more suitable for younger children. I will admit that I was wrong to an extent and that this is a great book and J.K. Rowling is a terrific writer. |
