I bought this for my son on a whim one day. I read it in the store, thought it was really cute and it made me laugh. I didn't even think about all the barking "styles" until I got home and read it to my son, he giggles at my barks and our dog howls with me whenever I get to the howling page. The dog comes into the room every time I read this to my son and hangs out till I'm done, so I guess you could say we all love this one.

My daughter absolutely loves these fun board books. They are easy to read to her and she is captivated by the sounds, rhymes and funny things that happen in each of the Boynton board books.

This little book has all a baby/toddler likes: it is small and so easy to handle by children, it has hard cover and hard pages so it does not rip off, it is beautiful and SUPER funny. My 16 month old daughter loves looking through the different types of dogs and 'barking tones'. I completely recommend it.

We got this book for my two-year-old, because she loves doggies and kitties. It was a good call. Boynton's books are all so short, cute, and fun to read-just the right length for the 1-to-2 year old attention span. This one basically counts up through 10 dogs and their various barking styles. My daughter loves to participate in the reading, by counting and repeating each bark. She *loves* it.

A very cute book- if you love dogs, of course. My son (8 months) loves when I make all the barking/whining/growling noises and by the time we get to 7 dogs, my dog is howling! Fun for the whole family. We love all of the Sandra Boynton books that we have thus far.

We have a new baby coming soon. Since we already have a dog, we purchased some dog board books to help introduce our dog to the baby. This by far is our favorite one. I love how the reader can imitate different dog sounds as written on the pages of this book. It seems to make it more fun and exciting. I have read this book to other children and they love it. Plus, it helps them to learn about counting at the same time. I highly recommend this book.

My son is almost 3 and is just learning his ABC's but with only a few days of reading this book he "read" it to me tonight for bedtime, barking correctly for each of the dogs and howling at the moon "like a coyote". My son enjoys the book and I think the simplicity is part of his attraction. For me the fun of this book is barking together. It's a great little book, but not recommended for people that can't ham it up a little. Also, if you get bored reading repetitious books, check it out from the library instead of buying it so you can take it back when you get tired of barking.

This has such cute illustrations, very fun to read aloud. It's noisy! (But still fun.) This is a fun, interactive book to read with/to your child. Not great for bedtime with all that barking, but fun nonetheless! I buy it for all new parents. It is very repetitious, which appeals to many children. It's sort of along the lines of "this is the house that Jack built" in that it is a progression. With each new dog, you're repeating what all the previous dogs have to say. The 10th dog makes for a very noisy read! I really like the author's style of illustration. The drawings are simple, but she also packs a lot of emotion into the faces of the characters she draws. The whining dog (#3) really looks pitiful! And that poor cat!

Simple drawings, simple sounds, simple format, dynamic results. Ten words and doggie sounds - one cat. Each of my 6 grandchildren loved this book when they were less than a year old. Copies were read and re-read, digested and even chewed. Sandra Boynton's books have entertained and delighted our children for years. Even the youngest, who has Downs Syndrome, imitates the doggie sounds and is regaled with laughter.

My children and I love the Sandra Boynton books and Doggies especially. The different barks for each dog keep things lively. However, late at night after having read it three times in a row barking like a dog does get tiring.
