MSL Pointer Review:
A book with bright illustrations and rhyming verse best enjoyed on a gloomy day with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. |

As a reading teacher I have to say that this is a wonderful book for teaching phonemic awareness, a really important skill for reading. It has terrific word play and the illustrations support the text perfectly. Nice job, Mr. Degan! |

Of the countless board books that we received when our son was born, none has pleased him (or us!) more than "Jamberry!" My four and a half month old giggles and squeals with delight each and every time we read it to him (which is quite often!) The rhyming is fun and whimsical (silliness at its best) and has a terrific sing-song quality to it ("Quickberry / Quackberry /Pick me a blackberry!") I had never heard of this book prior to my son's birth, but now I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun way to introduce books and reading to their kids. |

Come along and sing the song of "Jamberry" in "Jamberryland." A little boy befriends a dancing bear that is picking scores of berries in Berryland. The illustrations in this book are outstanding, sweet, and silly, beset with wit and surprises such as fruit tart flowers, butter-cookie lily pads, and bread vines to name a few. Visually stunning, as well as wonderfully rhythmic too, "Quickberry! Quackberry! Pick me a blackberry! Trainberry, Trackberry Clickerty-clackberry!" Terrific use of alliteration. This dynamic little board book will captivate your children, and don't be surprised if it charms you too. Indeed, "Jamberry" is one of the MOST imaginative books ever written for infants and young children! Birth and up. |

This book was on our recommended reading list for school. My 2 year old likes it; even if she has absolutely NO idea what is going on. She thinks the elephants skating on raspberry jam are "silly." The book is set to rhyme and is divided into berries with a little story of a boy and a bear and their love of the berries. "One berry, two berry, pick me a blueberry..."the colors are bold and there are animals all over the page. The scenery has marshmallows, pats of butter and all sorts of stuff in the background. The colors are great and the story is entertaining and very imaginable. Get it today! |

This book is so classic, and I can't imagine raising children without it. This book, as I look back at it, gives me such a trip back to when I was in kindergarten. Its rhythm is easy for children to pick up on, and its illustrations are dripping with color and imagination. It is a perfect book for kids to sit with you and read. You must own this book! It is as necessary as many children’s "blankies". Don't try and give your children generic books. They will love this book (so will you)! |

My son Ben took to this book right from the beginning. We have been reading this book for almost a year and my 2 1/2 year old has memorized it from beginning to end. Starting with "Jamberry by Bruce Degen" It is one of the few books that I don't mind reading time after time after time again. |

In the Children's book Jamberry by Bruce Degen, the pictures tell practically the whole story. The story begins with a sweet brown bear taking a berry picking adventure with a curious little boy. As they go about their berry-finding expedition, the illustrator depicts each scene with enormous imagination and creativity. The pages hold bright pictures that are simple enough for little children to comprehend and detailed so that each page holds something new and entertaining. As the pair finds themselves in going over a Niagra like berryfall, we see bread growing on bushes and jellybeans stemming out of rivergrass. Upon arriving in Berryland, the two march in a berry parade, which circles the raspberry jam skating rink. This story holds age appropriate material which will hold toddlers attention enough to get to the ending where the berry explorers experience a jam jamboree with berries of all types. I highly recommend this book for younger children. After reading it to my little brother once, I am now asked to read it every night! |

One of my all-time favorites for children aged four months to 2 1/2 years! The youngest will enjoy the enthusiastic alliterative rhyming and the bright colors; toddlers (and adults!) will also enjoy the clever pictorial links between each page (preparations for fireworks are shown in the corner of one page; delightfully exploding berries on the next). I don't know whether this book is more fun for the reader or the listener ("Raspberry/Jazzberry/ Razzamatazzberry/ Berryband/Merryband/Jamming in Berryland"), but it will fast become a favorite for you and a child! An enchanting tale, beautifully told: A perfect gift! |
