I read a lot of spiritual or metaphysical books but this one is definitely one of the best, most personally useful ones. I just started it yesterday and although I am only half way through I am so excited by the information within I could not wait to rave about it and recommend it to family and friends. It is so enlightening to me in explaining my negative thought patterns and how programming from childhood has influenced my entire life. No wonder Louise Hay is a guru to so many new age type authors. I am reading sections aloud to my husband. I am underlining passages to re-read later. I see myself so clearly in the examples given as well as other people I love in my life. Although I did not buy this book through Amazon like many others I've read, I would most definitely purchase it again for a gift or advise somebody I really cared for that could use this kind of revelation to buy it. My copy is the earlier printing (1984) so I can only assume more recent re-printing dates are at least as good or improved. Do not hesitate. You need to read this book. You deserve it and can really benefit from it. (B. Carroll |

I have never been big on self-help books; many of them are too stuffy, or technical, or don't really relate to what I'm going through. You Can Heal Your Life is different. It is easy to read, and well-written, and helps you see/realize/re-affirm that you are the master of your destiny, that only you can change your life, that you are loveable and perfect as you are - and best of all, the process is not "hard" - you just have to be willing to do the mental work. The book gives practical advise, it's non-judgmental, and it's real and true.
I have been struggling with depression my whole life, and doing lots of work to heal myself. Reading this book at this point of my life-journey was just what I needed. I'm happy! Since I started reading the book (a week ago), I have not had any trouble sleeping. That may not seem like a lot, or a long time, but I've also struggled with insomnia most of my life too. Falling asleep peacefully is a triumph, and a joy.
Another great thing about the book is that I'll be able to refer to it often. The index in the back has already come in handy when I wanted to look up something I read a few days ago.
If you're not sure, and if you resist the book & its message, if you think "oh, this author must have it all together, she must have had a great childhood, things must just come easy to her, that's not me, my life sucks", then read the last chapter, "My Story." It will make it obvious that no matter what you go through, no matter what you've experienced, you can be happy. All it takes is you.

Louise is the first lady of the healing arts and hers was one of the first book I ever saw on the subject. It totally changed the way I thought about healing and led to my writing my own book, some 12 years later.
You Can Heal Your Life is a classic book, one that should be on every shelf. It contains methods of healing, affirmations, and the reasons why many of us become ill. You will learn how illness has an emotional connection and how by altering your life actions, you can also change your illness into a path of wellness.
My favorite section is chapter 15, which contains "the list." In this newly revised version, the list of ailments and likely emotional connections is separated into colorful columns which make it easier to read. This version is beautifully decorated with pastel flowers, hearts, and other beautiful details. A great book to leave out on a table for others to browse. The "turtle back" cover, which is strong like plastic, but soft to the touch like a paper cover, will survive years of wear and tear.
Of course, the book contains many exercises and processes to help the reader better understand themselves and in the process, heal and revive not just their bodies, but their lives.
My sincerest gratitude goes out to Louise and her work which has opened the door for so many of us to follow. |

This is a great find and if you have been lead to this book consider yourself a very blessed and fortunate individual. Healing our lives is such an "iffy" proposistion. So many times we derive so many "benefits" from not healing our lives; we can play the victim, we can blame others, we can receive sympathy from others, we can stay limited and small. If you don't want to heal your life right now, that's okay, I don't blame you because it's kind of scary taking complete response-ability for your life, but if you are ready...really, really ready, then this is a book for you.
I recommend reading it with a friend or if you can't do that, read it in front of the mirror. I can guarantee that if you do that, the tears will come. Don't be afraid of getting upset or angry or even disturbed because Truth is upsetting because Truth is unsettling but I warn you, once you've been exposed to a few empowering ideas, you can never go back. You can try, but you'll have this nagging feeling that somehow your life is your creation and you have always been responsible for it. Yeah, your daddy might've been abusive and your mommy might've been alcoholic, but are you going to RISE UP or are you going to sit in the ashes of the past and play dead?
The point of power is always in the present moment so I suggest that you go and reclaim your life. I suggest that you cry, scream, throw things until you get it all out of system and out of complete and total surrender come back to the Life that was always waiting for you to notice it; your life and you are a beautiful, wonderful, magnificent creation that has so much to give.
You can heal your life. You can let the dead bury the dead. You can discover/uncover the Truth that your wholeness is yourt holiness and your holiness is your wholeness.
My only problem with this book is the section in the back where Louise mentions certain physical ailments and the mental attitudes that MIGHT have created the situation. This information can be a blessing or a curse. It can be a blessing because it can give you something to work through and heal or it can be a curse because you can use this information to beat yourself up with or make yourself feel guilty that somehow you created this situation and I don't think that it was Louise's intention for any of us to take this powerful information and find new ways to beat ourselves up. This is the only reason I'm giving the book four stars and not five not because the information is wrong or misleading, but because I've met quite a few people who run around "diagnosing" everyone. Use this information and do not abuse it. |

This is a wonderful book, beautifully illustrated, to help you heal yourself. It clearly points out the different mental patterns we hold that ultimately result in the physical manifestation of dis-ease. It has an amazing reference in it of a large amount of physical conditions from constipation to heart attacks, that clearly show you probable mental causes, and some affirmations to help heal those wounds. It has helped me see how different parts of our body, can be mapped to how we see and move through our lives. I regularly refer to that reference, and would even recommend the book just for that.

I was introduced to this book around 10 years ago. Took me two years to start embracing the true meaning and value of it and have kept it close ever since. Many of my friends, family and colleagues have benefited from her wonderful ideas and the fixes she suggests to remedy your physical problems through adjusting your mental status. Human brain is a collection of many neighboring sections. What we think and deeply believe have effects on the neighboring areas. "Negative" or "destructive" mind patterns produce parasites which touch the areas around them and gradually cause mulfunctions in the automatic controllers in brain. Part that control the glands, blood pressure, sequential functions, movements... The ultimate outcome, which may take years to show up, could a variety of physical problems, sometimes terminal. Listen to what she has to say for I have seen excellent results. |
