This book is about three trees. The first part of the book is when the three trees on a hill started wishing what would become of them when they grew up. The first tree wished he could be made into a beautiful chest filled with beautiful treasures. Then the second tree wished that he could be made into a strong ship to carry kings and sail in strong waters. Then the third tree wished she could just grow very tall and point the way to heaven. The years passed, the three trees grew strong and tall. Then one day three woodcutters climbed the hill. I think you would really like this book. I love this book because it's about Jesus. The best part in the book is when the three tree's wishes came true, but each in a different way.

I had never heard this story before and had no idea what to expect when I read it... as I got to the part about the third tree's destiny, I started crying - it touched me that much... what a great lesson is contained in this simple tale - each tree's dream was fulfilled although not precisely in the way that they anticipated... excellent jumping off point for discussions with little ones - As the room mom for my 5-year-old son's kindergarten class, I got this book for his teacher's birthday and had all the children "sign" it - the teacher was touched by this powerfully moving story, as were the parents who came to her party... really a great book to keep and especially to give.

This story has often been told, but no one tells it more beautifully than Angela Hunt in this version. I have purchased the traditional edition and the new leather edition, and both books have become treasured family keepsakes. Best of all, the leather books are imprintable, so I have given several as special gifts.

The Three Trees is one of the best children's books out there. The ideas expressed, that we never know what God's plan is for us until it happens, is a wonderful one. The authors show that there are many ways to express love for God and many ways to use the gifts God has given us.
