I love this book. Many of the principles for staying young I've adopted previously so it reinforces what I know and gives you a lot more information on top of that. The drawings and the way the message is delivered is comical and makes the book fun to read. I've been reading various tips to my husband about how you can look younger and add years to your life. On top of his list was having sex!! He's in his 50's and tells me now how I can help shave years off his life. He has already taken other tips and incorporated them into his daily routine and his office staff is right on board. I think everyone can benefit from reading this book.

Like many people, I'm always looking for natural ways to look and feel my physical best. The "Perricone Promise" has proven to be my ticket! Touring across the country with as many as 155 speaking engagements per year, book signings and being a public figure takes an enormous toll. This requires that you take extra measures for good health everyday. With Dr. Perricone's "promise" I am confident that I am doing something simple, yet effective to stay on top of my youth and vitality. Many ASHA TYSON VIP CLUB Members and audiences remark about how energetic I am on the platform. Your schedule may be as demanding - or not quite. Either way imagine what the "promise" can do for you!

Yes, the products cost more than Avon or Mary Kay, but they are scientifically-based, patented products! Besides, I am seeing great results from the diet alone! I haven't purchased all the hard-to-find items, but even sticking to the basics (salmon, salmon, and more salmon - oh, and olive oil!) has helped me feel and look younger. And it didn't hurt that I lost 10 lbs during the first 3 weeks I was on the diet! I wouldn't recommend listening to any extreme viewpoints as they are probably from people with ulterior motives. If you want to try looking younger by just adjusting your diet and sticking to a not-so extreme plan without surgery, you'll enjoy this book. If you want to see really great results, you might even consider trying the entire Perricone 3-tiered program, but you don't have to.

I didn't like salmon before I read this book, but the rest of the diet was so appetizing and exotic (I absolutely love blueberries!), and the benefits promised were so extreme, that I decided to open up my mind a little and try eating grilled salmon. It was difficult for me at first, and then I begin to enjoy it a little after about a week, and now (4 weeks later) I absolutely crave the stuff!!! Anyway, everybody thinks I got a face lift or at least a new hairstyle or something - I'm always getting complements. This book has changed my life in only 4 weeks - actually, I felt and looked great after the first 4 DAYS, but now it's even better. If you're thinking about plastic surgery or even if you just wish you didn't have so many crinkles on your forehead, you'll love the results of following the Perricone Promise - seriously, you will not regret buying this book.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone's The Perricone Promise delves into the wrinkle-removing arena but also goes deeper. He tells us how we can look and feel 10 years younger in just 28 days. Who doesn't want to find the fountain of youth, or at least a reasonable facsimile? Perricone wants women and men to know that we can stay younger looking longer by following a program he designed to help reverse the aging process.

Perricone maintains that if we want to decrease our susceptibility to age-related disease and slow the aging process we must control inflammation. And to do that he suggests we must control our diet and stress. Sounds logical. Remember the old adage 'we are what we eat'. He also maintains that his three-pronged approach of diet, supplements and topicals will turn back the hands of time. In addition he supports and encourages exercise for good health.

I found the book interesting and logical but there was often more information given than I was really interested in knowing. The unfamiliar names like anthocyanins, antioxidants, and exitotoxicity, were difficult for a lay person and interfered with my reading. I enjoyed the book more when I felt Dr. Perricone got to the 'nuts and bolts' of the process.

I think that this program is great for people who have a personal chef who not only does the family cooking but the shopping as well. Or if you are someone who doesn't have anything better to do than shop and cook. Then, it's probably perfect.

I love the idea of this program, I just don't know how to stop my life long enough to live it.

The reason the book interested me was because of his appearance on my local PBS station. While I agree that his menus, supplements etc may be out of reach for a few people, many are well within the budget of someone who knows how to budget well and is willing to learn how to eat healthy.

His simple suggestions to stop drinking coffee in the morning and drink green or black tea instead is something most people can do.

Cannot afford Pacific salmon like I can? Then use the flax seed oil like he recommends. I also use flax seed oil. And who cannot afford to buy fresh or frozen blueberries? One bag of frozen blueberries is less than four dollars and will last you a whole week since one serving is only 1/3 cup.

A can of salmon which he says you can substitute if fresh isn't available or is to expensive for those living in the mid-west. One average size salmon fillet where I live is around 8 oz, which cut in half will make two meals.

Most people need only delete the junk food and invest in the good foods he recommends. Most people can afford to plant a few fresh vegetables in their yards or amongst the flower gardens, so that's something he also encourages.

As for some of the pricier items he suggests, I tend to think most Americans with well stocked and affordable health or whole food stores, can budget wisely and buy many of the items he suggests.

Look at his average breakfast which costs very little if you look at the amount needed. 3 egg omelet and/or 4-6 oz. grilled salmon, 1/2 cup cooked non-instant oatmeal, 1/3 cup fresh berries or small slice of melon. Green tea. 8-12 oz. spring water per meal.

For lunch he suggests something more salmon and a small 2 cup serving of a dark green lettuce salad with extra virgin olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon to taste, and 1/3 cup serving of fresh fruit.

For snacks he suggests Small handful of hazelnuts, walnuts or almonds or an apple. For dinner he suggests fish, another small salad and additional vegetables like 1/2 cup steamed asparagus, broccoli, or spinach, and 1/3 cup berries or melon and water.

He does allow an apple or nuts etc as a bedtime snack, but I don’t eat anything three hours before bedtime.

Look at how much the average family spends on Pepsi, Coke and other soft drinks per month, yet a good water filter like the Brita faucet mount available via Amazon.com can give you a better beverage, good clean water, which will heal and vitalize your body for of what one six pack of sodas cost you in one month.

It's all a matter of what choices we make. And even he says that even if you follow only one part of his program you should be healthier. All I need do is look at how much the choices he suggests will save me in medical costs (co-pays) over the year and it's well worth it.

And I am walking proof that some simple changes like drinking water throughout the day, getting enough sleep, walking more, eating smaller meals, and having a more positive attitude can help you have better skin and loose weight and keep it off. And I have continued to do this, even after my husband died fourteen months ago, thanks to a drunk driver.

I've read the book, and three days ago, I implemented many of its recommendations - starting with cutting an abundance of sugar out of my diet, eating Alaskan salmon, and almonds for snacks. I have also read criticisms of Perricone in the New York Times and other periodicals. The bottom line is that - science or not - my skin is glowing and smooth in a way I have never experienced without applying shimmering lotions or creams. (I have cronic dry skin.) Yesterday, I didn't have to apply concealor to cover undereye circles for the first time in years.

I don't know if it is the green tea, water, olive oil, eating berries, lack of sugar or what. But something is working. And I'm not taking his supplements or using his creams. I am simply paying attention to what I eat, and spending a bit more at the grocery store and when I go out to eat to make healthier choices.

Part of the review complaints is the expense of the food. I admit - I am a bit irritated that he is pushing his own expensive supplements and skin products as part of the regimen. But as for the complaints about food - have we really come down to this point in America, where we are willing to spend $250 on the latest iPod but not an extra 5 dollars a day to eat healthier food? Have we become so spoiled in this country by the $5 sugar filled value meal at McDonalds, that we are aghast that nutritious food should cost us more?? I have been guilty of this, too, but this book has me rethinking my priorities.

I enjoyed reading Dr. Perricone's scientific research and the basis for his recommendations. However, I would say that 90% of the recommendations are not practical for the average person. Many of the foods and supplements he recommends are hard to find and/or expensive. Of course, he is promoting his own formulations of supplements and topical creams. I felt like I was reading the words of TV infomercial. As far as his diet...cut out the sugar and caffeine and eat more richly colored fruit and veggies and as much Alaskan salmon as you can tolerate. There! now you don't need to buy the book.

If you are looking for a magic (and cheap) pill to solve all your problems, you will never be satisfied. I think it's funny when I read all the reviews for this book that complain how expensive Dr. Perricone's products are. First of all, if you read the book you will see that he stresses a healthy lifestyle and presents a very do-able diet that will work wonders by itself. The foods he suggests are to reduce inflammation and are high in antioxidants, and will make you healthier on the inside, which will show on the outside (A.K.A. your skin).

The products he suggests include supplements and facial creams to help tighten wrinkles on your skin and even out discolorations and such. I actually just tried the diet alone first, and saw dramatic improvements in my skin, so I then tried the products and it got even better! The best part is that I was going to have plastic surgery, but put it on hold to see what Dr. Rerricone's program could do for me... now, I don't need surgery! I saved $20,000!!! And nobody stuck any needles in my eye to paralyze my muscles the way botox does - stay away from botox! Buy this book if you want to feel and look better, if you can stick to the diet and don't expect anything for free.
