I bought this book based on the reviews and everyone was so right! It's a very moving book and has humor and compassion. It has all the elements of a Soup Lovers Book. This book has touched my soul and im still in the first section about love. I would have never thought that a dog could teach us so much but this book proves just that.

The first story had me in tears when the owner left the state and left his dog with his relative. The dog became sick and near death because he missed his owner and as soon as they told him he was losing weight and was dying the owner came BACK and the dog was waiting on him in there usual spot at the train station. There is so much more to that story I won't spoil it. That story and the first 5 that I read so far has touched my life in more ways then one.

If you love dogs, have a dog, don't have one or is getting one? Then I reccomend this book for you, I would give it 10 stars if I could. We are getting our new Shih Tzu puppy next month in Dec and I cannot wait to get him. This book proves that love comes in all forms sizes and shapes!

Part of the continuing success in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series is the ability of the editors to reap the fertile field of talented, young writers. Debbie Roppolo's "Some Snowballs Don't Melt" is a beautifully told story about the bond between a working man and his working dog. Sad, yet uplifting, the story demonstrates how the relationship between man and animal can transcend mortality. Ms. Ropollo brings the tale of her father and his German Shepherd to life with intimate and exquisite details. One can easily see stories like this being transformed into family movies, the type not often seen in this day and age.

My sister-in-law wrote "Phoebe's Family" (page 155) about our beloved Boston Terrier Phoebe who died suddenly. Phoebe was absolutely the smartest, most loyal, and loving dog I have ever known. My father still mourns her now almost three years after her death. Her favorite toy-the HOD (Hedgehog of Death) sits in a place of honor in his bedroom and he will not let any of our other dogs play with it.

The stories of love and companionship found in this particular Chicken Soup are moving, cheering, and sad all at the same time. If you are a dog lover, then you will enjoy this book.

This book will inspire and delight you with the many wonderful stories of how our canine companions enhance our lives. I am blessed to have contributed my story, "In Her Golden Eyes" (Page 120) where I share how our chow mix, Cheyenne, was nearly killed by a speeding truck and had to have her leg amputated. Her fight for survival and her battle to learn to walk again inspired me to survive my bitter divorce and walk on my own as a new single mother. I hope you get the chance to read it. Also, I have a book out called Prison Of My Own which tells about the tragedy that led to my being left a single mother after my husband murdered his mistress. The story is one of hope since it is of redemption and forgiveness. It has been seen on The Montel Williams Show, been broadcast on national radio and has been published in magazines worldwide. Readers as far as Australia and New Zealand have called the book "life changing" and described how it has strengthened their faith and encouraged them to forgive.

Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul is a wonderful assortment of stories illustrating the strength and power of canine companionship. The stories are short but heartwarming and funny. There's something in this book for everyone. The anecdotes serve as a poignant reminder as to why dogs are man's best friend.

I'm a firm believer the dogs are the best creation known to mankind. This book proves it so. when I started reading this book, one minute I would be laughing out loud so hard the next I would crying my eyes out, but in a good way. I had to stop reading it for a while all the laughing & crying made me sick. If you read this review please go by the book you'll never regret it. It's amazing how these creatures can work their way into our heart & soul with just one glance.

Every Chicken soup for the sould book is good, but I like this one most. It shows that your dogs are not just some pet, they are your friend too. I love how this book shows things sad, happy, and even funny. There are so many different stories and sections, and some you might even be able to relate to. It's always fun to read these books because you never know what could happen. I love that you can choose which chicken soup you want. From cats to couples they have them all. These books can help you figure out some of your daily situations and it works for me so give it a try.

I am the proud author of ballerina dog in this book. As a handicapped woman I take special pride in being this four legged angel mamma. Please take a read and don't forget to give you dog a big old kiss tonight. It will give you one right back.

This book made me laugh and cry. It's so refreshing to find other people who share a deep love for dogs and realize their devotion to us. There were stories of old dogs, rescued dogs, funny dogs, and dogs in the military! What a great book.

Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul hit a bull's eye target on its establishment of the incredible bond and friendship we share with our furry friends. Being an avid dog lover, my expectations were high going into reading Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. Until reading this book, no previous book that I had read was able to capture the amount of devotion and love I experience when working with my animal companions at the local animal shelter. Immediately though, I felt myself swept away by the entertaining laugh-out-loud stories and I gained inspiration from the unending tales of pet companionship, devotion and pure love that warmed my heart with joy. If there were ever a book able to summarize the gratitude we hold for the grace and heart given to us by our canine friends, this would be it.
