This is an awesome inspirational book. I have been looking for a book on personal growth WITHOUT the emphasis of religion and/or fad self-help books. We live in a society where we want instant gratification for every- thing and we feel incomplete because the media tells us we are. We want things to "happen" to us as opposed to working toward anything. We are always underpaid and unhappy with they way things are going for us This book tells it how it is - life is going to be hard, but the point is we always have a choice. The author does not come across as "preaching" which is what turns me off other books. I reccommend this book to anyone graduating from high school, college, someone who feels like they are in a rut and can't get out, or someone who just wants to get back to the values we once related to true success a long time ago - having goals, having a positive attitude, hard work, patience, and affirming ourselves and others. This book is a great gift and a pretty fast read!

This is my first Hal Urban book but it is refreshing and has some really good things to think about presented in a simple, honest and straight forward way. When you are needing a lift and or know someone who might need some 'direction' this is a good read. It is easy to read, chapters arent long and you can read one a night if you want ... worth the price of admission.

An outstanding book that lays out in an intelligent way those core principles that lead to true success and happiness. Although the book is relatively short, it packs in a timeless message that can be helpful to all who are open to it. Ignore the snobbish tone of the professional reviewer; the writer simply states his case without a lot of hype as most writers of the genre do. The book was well worth my time.

The only "self-help" book I've read before this was Anthony Robbin's Awaken the Giant Within, good if you need a pep-talk but otherwise of no lasting effect. My mother gave me this and I was skeptical at first but I thought "I might as well have a look over it and see if there's anything useful in it".

I'm glad I made that decision, because Life's Greatest Lessons is actually quite a good book and has a lot of stuff you wish your elders (parents, teachers, relatives etc.) had passed on to you. Thank goodness this book is around, because it's like a compendium of accumulated wisdom from people who have been through life (kudos to Andrew Urban for managing to get pretty much a complete set of neccesary wisdoms). I found I already had some of the lessons down pat, and others were like a cruel realisation that I knew all along but was subconsciously ignoring (mainly the 'life is hard' section).

The things in this book will most likely have a lifelong effect, although I've found I've had to go back to the book from time to time to refresh my memory of things I'd forgotten. I doubt anyone can learn all the lessons on the first read so it's a good idea to have a copy around.

This life-changing book begins with a look at what success is and is not, and moves on to how your choices and reactions to circumstances direct where your life will go. Topics include, Life is hard, Life is Fun, Attitude, Habits, Thankfulness, Respect, Honesty, Kindness, Self-motivation, Goals, Hard work, Sacrifice, Time Management, Self image, Balanced Care of Body, Mind and Spirit, and Persistance in the Face of Failure. A great choice for teachers, parents and those who guide youth. A very enjoyable read... because it is so true! I'm planning on giving several as gifts! What a fabulous book! Read it! You won't be sorry!

Wonderful common sense approach to getting the best out of life! Each lesson (or chapter) is laid out in such a way as to be applicable immediately. Being a teacher myself (as was the author for many years), I really appreciated the stories he told about how he implemented the Life Lessons with his students. I have already thought of many ways that I'll share these lessons with my eager 8th graders this coming school year!
