As I am now reading Dating Rocks for the second time, I am reminded that the overall effect of reading Steve Nakamoto is a welcome boost of optimism. And if there is any realm in which a negative outlook is poorly rewarded, it's romance. As an unexpected bonus, I was motivated to become a better friend, sister and daughter as well as lover.
These books are useful even to those not currently pursuing relationships for the sheer pleasure of being reminded that we can be happy or sad during our one shot at life, so why not chose the brighter way?

I received this book as a gift. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started to read it, because I'm skeptical of relationship books in general. The subtitle, "The 21 Smartest Moves Women Make For Love" kind of scared me into thinking that this book might be an updated version of "The Rules" in disguise. Thankfully, it isn't. I was also relieved to discover this is NOT a book about how to meet men. Instead, Dating Rocks combines psychology, self-help, and practical advice, all in one entertaining and enlightening book. Dating Rocks is not simply a book about dating. The book gives realistic suggestions for making better decisions, and improving self-esteem. I wish I had read this book years ago.
Each chapter of Dating Rocks features stories, quotes, advice, and more. The author, Steve Nakamoto, encourages women to take responsibility for their past mistakes and take the future into their own hands. Dating Rocks teaches women to be more productive and proactive in the choices they make. Making smarter decisions will yield positive results. I think this book should be required reading material for every person, male or female, whether single or married. Dating Rocks was written by a man, which is a nice change of pace. So many women get their advice and opinions about relationships ONLY from other women, which means they lack the insight that could be gained from an honest and unbiased male perspective.

Dating Rocks! tells it like it is from a man's perspective... with honesty and constructive advice. It's not that a man is dictating what to do, but rather, he is sharing what he sees... reflecting on the common faux pas women make but are often unaware of. Examples in the book are mostly women's stories of challenge, with four female contributors, so the book offers a unique and balanced perspective... not just reflecting the author's take on things.
Nakomoto provides strategic guidance on how to live your best life so you can attract a soulmate who will stand the test of time. And, a big part of that is knowing how to present yourself by making the most of your assets, and living fully and more spiritually. He is right in suggest- ing that this will make you that much more irresistible and self confident.
"What To Do Now" sections provide constructive steps the reader may take, and he even offers a free Bonus Special Report. Cool extra for gals looking for that much more!.
The book's format is very accessible, and it's smartly written. I especially like the charts and light-hearted illustrations, making Dating Rocks! a worthwhile read that treats a serious subject for singles with a smile. With this book in hand, you can truly shake up your social life for the better!

I've recently re-entered the dating world after some time off and have found this book to be helpful in getting back into the swing of things. Its 21 chapters cover most of the important aspects of dating life, from considering the relationship you have with yourself and on to evaluating the relationship that you build with another through its early stages. It's concise and offers common sense tips that one may forget in every day life. What I like best about the book is its comic relief (cartoons) and, more importantly, its hopeful attitude as I believe that this quality will take you far in any pursuit. Consider this quote from Thoreau: "I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." Buy this book and get on your way. For additional reading, I also recommend The Boyfriend Test by Wendy Walsh. Good luck! |

Steve Nakamoto's latest book, Dating Rocks!, is as much a handbook for life as it is a handbook for love. Everyone could benefit from his guidance, which is lightly peppered with appropriate quotes from literary figures. As someone who spent way too much time trying to polish "rough diamonds", I particularly liked Smart Moves #1 and #2 (basically, recognizing the good guys and weeding out the others in a timely fashion). By the way, when you're working your way through the weeds, practice Smart Moves #11 - Becoming an Outstanding Listener. You'll be honing your skills for those good guys, and you might learn something interesting for Smart Moves #10. You know what that one has to be. |

I often tell women, "If there is something you want to know about men, ask a man." I purchased Steve Nakamoto's first book, Men Are Like Fish and it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Now, with his latest book, Dating Rocks, he has a new masterpiece! This book forces women to look at themselves first and to face the truth about their relationship habits/choices. The fact that it is written by a man enriches the book even more. I was stunned to my core when I read about a certain type of relationship Steve warns women to abstain from and it is the type of relationship I repeatedly found myself in. I was finally able to free myself from this type of relationship only a year ago. I've wasted a lot of time in the wrong types of relationships but I am now breathing a breath of fresh air and looking forward to being in love one day real soon. Thanks Steve - God bless! |
