MSL Pointer Review:
McGraw tells readers they must stop playing the victim and take responsibility for their lives. Should be required reading for anyone preparing for life, or confused or frustrated with life and its outcomes. |

An American reader (MSL quote), USA
<2007-01-09 00:00>
Everyone who raved about this book appears to lack an ounce of common sense. Ironic, considering that this book is about teaching common sense. I bought this book through amazon after reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Now that I have read it and seen his obnoxious, pompous self on interviews, I have to tell the unwitting public that this book is full of bs. The analogies he uses are tailored to fit his assertions and most of the examples are extreme and ridiculous. Sure his 'theories' seem somewhat common sense. But that's all there is to it. He's out to make you feel bad about yourself and your life so that you'd buy more of his books (and workbooks). Honestly, the self-possessed manner in which he carries himself during interviews is very difficult to watch - his conceit is loud and clear in his books as well. Can you expect a good self-help book to come from a man who believes that he is superior to everyone else? There is no way I would recommend this book to anyone except maybe those who blame everyone else but themselves for their problems. |
