This is an awesome book. I bought the book about a year ago after making my first extract beer kit. This book (and the previous Clonebrews) opened up a new world for me. From Belgium Trappist ales unavailable in this country to Craft brew favorites I've succesfully brewed many of Mark's and Tess's recipes. Being an extract brewer the recipes are easy enough for a novice while producing world class brews. Recipes are also given for mini-mash and all grain.

Also included are detailed charts on hops, grain and malt usage and tables for water modification. There's even food recipes including an awesome chocolate stout cake.

This is my all-time favorite book for homebrewing. The descriptions for each beer are delectable and tantalizing, you feel like you can taste and feel the frothy beer on your lips of the recipe you are about to read. We have tried several of the clones they offer, and it is good for extract and all-grain brewers alike. Also, as our beer tastes have changed, this book is able to keep up, from Stouts to Belgians to Lagers and Pale Ales.

It has great charts in the back of the book too, a hop reference guide (including worthy substitutions), grain guide, and yeast chart. Highly recommend!

If you want to brew great beer at home with great recipes, you need this book. It not only covers nearly every style that there is, it also has very detailed charts for hops, grains, and yeast. Even a chart to help you replicate the water used for brewing a particular style. I have won several ribbons with these recipes and know many other people that have done the same. Including several best of shows and brewers cups.

Tess and Mark Szamatulski have really outdone themselves this time. Along with helpful information for the beginner and the advanced homebrewer, in this book, they take the work out of brewing and put the fun back into it. They "capture" recipes from around the world and give them to us to fully enjoy. This book is a must for the beginner as well as the experienced.

This book and book one (clone brews) are my bibles when it comes to finding straight-forward answers and suggestions for good reliable clone brewing. I was very fortunate to have placed second in one of the biggest homebrew competitions in the Northeast "The best of Brooklyn" in Brooklyn NY. Thanks to this book I can make my favourite commercial beers right here at home, and by the way I'm an all-grain brewer. I don't know what our friend in the Netherlands is talking about by not believing in the simplicity of the recipes without even trying them. I raise my pint glass to Mark & Tess Zzamatulski!

As a professional brewer, I'm always looking for ideas for new brews. This book (and the prior one, Clone Brews) gives you a laundry list of beers to emulate, then gives you a great recipe to use. If you've ever tried a new beer and wondered how the tastes in it were created, this book will give you a clear insight into where the flavors come from. I heartily recommend it.

Mark & Tess have compiled some of the most comprehensive recipe information to assist brewers at every level. Beer Captured contains step by step breakdowns of popular commercial brews from around the world; crucial to every homebrewer as he/she researches classic examples of beer styles. In addition, the water chemistry tables provide a guideline for water chemistry adjustments necessary in order to duplicate a desired beer style. All of the information is outlined in basic formulations that are easy to comprehend and to incorporate into your brewing methods. This book will take you as far as you want to go.

This is a fun book for any home brewer or beer lover. There are 150 recipes for all kinds of beers. Every recipe has a short description of the beer, plus some interesting tidbits about the brewer or the name of the beer or some other piece of tricia. The recipes themselves are easy to follow and make great beer (I have won ribbons with beers from their first book, "Clone Brews").

The thing I really love about this book are the serving suggestions. They are not your run of the mill, serve-with-red-meat kind of suggestions. For example, a particular imperial stout suggestion is to serv it "in a goblet glass with a double thick porterhouse steak smothered in wild mushroom sauce topped with crumbled bleu cheese and sauteed prawns." It just makes you want to brew and cook!
