This is a wonderful little book that both my husband and I enjoy reading to our one year old little boy. We have just reached that stage where he wants his favorite books read over and over. Fortunately, this is one that he wants read, and we enjoy reading! It has fun rhymes and a catchy rhythm. The illustrations are great, and our baby loves identifying all of the different farm animals (my personal favorite is the fiddle playing cow in sunglasses!). Bottom line - one of the best kids' books we own! |

If someone were to ask us to pick our favorite Sandra Boynton book, it would be very difficult, since they are all wonderful, but this one would probably edge out the others by a little. It's fun, and playful, and full of animals. We "sing" it like a real square dance, and clap, and our son just loves it. He even points to every animal and names them now, even says "cluck-cluck-cluck!" with the chickens! The funny thing is, my husband and I really get a kick out of reading it, too. It's a FUN book! If you are trying to decide which Boynton book to buy, you have to get this one. Then you'll be hooked and you'll need to have them all. |

Barnyard Dance is a hilarious ride for both parent and child. The story is set in a rhyming song-like format with illustrations that will make most crack a smile. The colors are bright and attractive to small children, without being overly busy. Throughout the story the reader will wonder what will happen next and it wraps up very neatly at the end of the book. It is a joy to read as a mom, not cumbersome at all. Boynton has done it again! |

What a fabulous little book!!! My son is 11 months old and this has been his favorite book since he first saw it at about 2 months of age. His daddy and I love the rhymes and rhythm too. This book has been a lifesaver for us in the car, especially when he was really little. If he got fussy and wouldn't calm down, I'd just start reciting Barnyard Dance-and he would immediately stop screaming and start smiling. It's worth its weight in gold for that reason alone!!! We've got several other Boynton books, and we love them too, but we all agree this one is the BEST! |

Our one year old baby, Grace, has enjoyed this book for several months and loves it more and more each time she hears it. The illustrations are fun, each animal has a cute expression, and the rhythm of the lyrics snaps right along. "Stomp your feet, clap your hands! Everybody ready for a Barnyard Dance!" This is the opening line and from there we read about the twirls of each animal: the moos of the cows, the chirps of the birds, and their various dance steps. It's an easy book to read with lots of expression, and it's fun to make the animal sounds along with the child. We read this book dozens of times a day and it's a huge favorite! |

This book makes my baby smile and look at me as I read. I love the fact it's never boring to read and the lines can be read with loud voices, soft voices, high and low voices, but it never has to be read the same way twice. I knew we were both hooked when recently I recited the opening to the book "Clap your hands, stomp your feet" and my baby turned to look at me and then looked for the book. This book came highly recommended to me and I have since given it as a gift and to a literacy program. A wonderful book with great illustrations! |
