A day does not pass where my husband and I do not find ourselves reading this book numerous times to our 14 month old daughter. The reason? She gets to hear us say "oops!" on nearly every page! Toddlers love predictability and will surely get a laugh out of the silly turkey who never seems to be able to wear his clothes correctly like the other animals. This short, cute, simple, and durable book has so much to offer a developing child such as word repetition (essential for emerging readers), patterns, and the chance to predict what will happen next. Parents can encourage language development by reinforcing the names of the animals, colors, articles of clothing and body parts, as well as the concepts of top and bottom. You can add a math boost by counting the animals, too. This, as well as many of Sandra Boynton's other books, is a necessity in an infant/toddler library. It will surely be read and cherished by your little one.

My daughter, almost two, brings this book to me all the time. She calls it "Oops book" and wants it "again" and "again" and "again." Sometimes she repeats the phrases after me, (She gets a kick out of "blue shoes") sometimes I just read it. Our five-year-old neighbor is over a lot and likes to hear me read it, and likes to read it out loud to the toddler too. We've added a little twist. After the long and low "ooops," I would say something like "You don't wear shoes on your head!" in the same sing-song way. Now, after the ooops, she says a string of nonsense syllables in the same tone of voice. I follow with the correct phrase, and she laughs and laughs. Read this with your own child, and you're likely to make this a special and unique sharing moment, too.

My 15 months old son is, since last week, asking me to read to him. I've read to him since he was 8 weeks and now is paying off! His very favorites from Sandra Boynton are The Going to Bed Book, and Moo, Baa, Lalala, but today I read this book to him and he started laughing at the 3rd page, then there was no one to stop him, and I had to read the book about 6 times before he got enough of it. Everytime I read it he would just laugh and laugh. I think this book is going to become his favorite now!

I am so impressed with these series of books from Sandra Boynton! I LOVE this book! Yeah, I know, it is supposed to be more about my kids, but let's not underestimate the importance of a parent truly enjoying what they are reading out loud to their child! This book is awesome! I think the turkey is hilarious in this book, and my children do to. I know my children like this book for themselves, but I think they also like how excited I get when they pick this book for me to read to them. Not only is this book witty, smart, and visually appealing, but it is educational as well. This book teaches colors, articles of clothing, and how not to dress! That can be very important! This book is a must, as well as any book from Sandra Boynton!

"Blue hat, green hat, red hat, oops. Red shirt, blue shirt, yellow shirt, oops," and so it goes in this excellent little board book. This book along with "Moo, Boo, La La La!" and "A to Z" also by Sandra Boynton was one first books I gave my girls and they loved it. I can't tell you how many times I read and sang the words as I pointed at the pictures. It's kind of sad to be packing it away, but you know, there will come a time when my girls have girls of their own and out of the box it'll come. Oh what a wonderful day that will be.

My son, who will soon be 3, has read this book with me so many times that he "reads" it by himself now. When he was a year old, the "oops" at the end of every page was one of his first and favorite words. This is a wonderful book for the pre-reader, because the repetition of simple words and colors really helps kids learn. And my son really responds to the humor and silliness of the book. I think Sandra Boynton is his favorite author, we read at least one of her books every night. They're awesome!

We lost this book one day for a few hours and we had to tear up the house looking for it. The reason my daughter loves this book so much is because it is very easy for her to read to herself. Predictable books like this are terrific for little ones who are pre-reading. She loves to read this book on her own and says OOOPS. I even love this book. It's darn funny! By far our favorite Boynton book and a fabulous way to get kids to a point where they feel like they can read too!

My little guy (now almost three) would laugh out loud at this book at a bit over a year old. Now he "reads" it to me, practicing his colors and clothing items as he goes. He still cracks up at the oops on every page, and now delights in telling me what is wrong with how the turkey wears his clothes. All of the Boynton books are great, but this one is a must.

This book is yet another gem from Sandra Boynton. On the surface it is four animals getting dressed and teaching colors. The elephant, the moose, and the bear all seem to be able to dress without issue, but our poor friend the turkey has a most difficult time dressing. When he errs in getting his clothing on in every instance, the page is ended with "Oops" Your children will be giggling out "oops!" at the bottom of every page. I suspect that part of the appeal of this book to little guys comes not just from the love of the call and response type of banter, or the hysterical pictures, but from the frustration of trying to learn to dress yourself. This one was very popular with my 4 boys. It's not too long to read to a squirmy child. This book is a good first book to read when you are trying to settle the kids down from being very active. No, I would not make this the last book of the evening, as it does beg for interaction, but it is a great transition from running around, and into other, calmer books.
