Building vocabulary is a first priority for age one-to-two and this book will help. This book is designed for toddlers, with bright colors, clear photos, easy to read labels with concept clusters on each page. Each of the inside 14 sturdy large pages are composed of a series of common used things in daily life, including: colors, things that go, bathtime, bedtime, mealtime, food, myself, home, outside, clothes, toys, pets, farm animals and wild animals. This book will hold children’s attention and build their vocabulary.
The 100 chosen words are all most essential in baby's life. And the book effectively expressed them by photos. Most of the pictures in this book are photos taken from real object. For example, in introducing colors, the book doesn't just put the pictures of different colors; instead, there are "green pear" "red shoes" "blue ball" "brown goat" "yellow duckling" "orange fish" "pink flower" and "purple tricycle". By combining the color with the object, children can not only learn the colors, moreover, they will have a detail impression of these objects, and can recognize the colors in real situation.
What's more, the 100 words are clearly classified for children. For instance, the book divides animals into "pet" "farm animals" "wild animals". Since small children have quite weak ability of making judgments, such a detailed classifying helps them establish a correct concept in their mind. And parents can take the chance to give children some important information, such as pets and farm animals are safe and baby can play with them, while wild animals are dangerous and baby should learn to protect himself/herself. Another point is that most of the things the book lists are used almost every day in baby's life. For example, in "bathtime", there are "brush" "towel" "bath tub'; in "bedtime", there are "pillow" "lamp" "slippers" "cot" and so on; in "mealtime", there are "bottle" "bowl" "fork and spoon" "highchair" and so on. So baby will feel familiar with these things and once they use the things parents can remind them and give them a deeper impression.
In addition, slobberproof pages will stand up to almost anything. The size of pages (11x11) will make it easy to stand the book up in crib or on changing table. Even for babies who are not ready to learn vocabulary, this book also can be taken as a photo collection to help babies learning to know things. It is a great birthday gift for your favorite one.

This is the perfect book for my 2 year old son! It has all the basic words he needs to learn and the layout is simple yet eye catching enough for him to be interested. The pages are boarded so it does not tear easy, perfect for my son since he likes to tear stuff up. Highly recommended for your baby's first words! |

I like it because it has so many relevant pictures to help teach your child the names of things in her environment. One minus: the pages are large so it can be difficult to flip the pages while your child is sitting in your lap. But this is not enough to knock it down a notch in ratings. This is a great book for an infant or toddler. |

Now that we have this one, I think I'm going to get rid of the other one or just use it for the parts that the Bright Baby book doesn't include. This book is so much better if you're trying to use it for learning. For example, in My Little Word Book there is a picture of a baby in a highchair eating from the tray up and it is labeled "highchair". I always wondered why they didn't leave the baby out of it (it could be confusing) and take the full shot of the highchair. Well, in their new series, Bright Baby, and in this particular book, they did! There are many other pictures that were "corrected" in this one. The bottom line is-this is the best picture book I have seen for learning new words. Clear images and straight to the point. Highly recommend this one! |

I highly recommend this book. My 14-month-old loves this book. Baby reaches for it and we read it together nearly every day. doing this is helping baby to learn words like "flower" and "chicken" and "shoes" - so many useful words. It’s also helpful to "cross-reference" a photo in this book with drawing from another book; much easier for us to be clear what an elephant is when we're looking at a photograph, and fun to see that baby recognizes both! The pages are easy to turn, the photos are clear and the categories make sense. We love it! |
