My husband and I both teach psychology at competing Universities, and there's been quite a buzz about this book amongst the faculty, so we bought a copy. Seriously folks, all this misogynistic and manipulative talk is entirely misplaced. When you read the publisher's description and buzz words, realize that sensationalism is what sells. All the persuasion and influence books, of which there are many, use the same type of sales pitch, because it draws us in. We all try to influence the outcomes of experiences with others to our advantage, in every facet of our lives. This one makes you better at it with women, and its uses would be as effective in business.
When you take away the chest pounding and witty shock value, this book is about creating opportunities with the right women, and avoiding the nightmares of dating the wrong ones. The author obviously has a background in psychology, and provides very introspective and effective Alpha male self-improvement advice. This isn't a nightclub pickup artist book for frat boys.
Women prefer a man who doesn't get tongue-tied and stumble all over himself at all the wrong moments. This book teaches men panache; how to enhance their ability to carry themselves with confidence and attitude, and how to charm and be smooth with the ladies, ala James Bond. This would mean a well-dressed, classy, guy with charisma who knows exactly how to say the right thing at any given moment, creating subconscious emotional and physical attraction. Any women would admit (to other women) the information is very accurate, after all, the author tells you upfront in his discovery phase that it's written from what works from a woman's point of view, as well as contains advice from male seducers.
People often carry pre-conceived prejudices when they read, and will take what they want out of this. For me, it's a fascinating, entertaining book that makes you think and see how persuasion works in both the male and female mind. Sure there are a lot of comments that can be taken as insults to women, but you'd have to be blind not to notice the entire book, I mean almost every page has some wickedly sharp, LOL cynical comments....and admittedly a lot of the statements about crazy women are very true. I took no offense, since I was usually laughing. I think I work with a lot of the girls he's writing about. There are plenty of "Inner Psycho" men out there as well, and it would be nice to have a similar guide for women to help avoid all the guys who make a great first impression, but ultimately turn out to be train wrecks.

Going in I read this from a skeptical viewpoint, since dating makes skeptics of even the most idealistic of romantics. I've watched highly successful,intelligent friends get rolled by hot looking female sharks one too many times. After seeing hearts and wallets shredded, it's easy for a laid back guy to be jaded when approaching women without wearing a bulletproof vest. The Pick up Artist genre has recently become vogue and created a few bestsellers. Neil Strauss' The Game, for one is an excellent read. The Professional Bachelor is a fascinating addition to the PUA field. While offered in guide fashion, what drew me in is how it's more a cleverly disguised autobiography, penned by someone who clearly has done it too all many times, and seeks cynical new ways to keep the chase interesting. Tate's done all the dirty work for us in the trenches, and written a riveting shortcut guide to the sport we all wish to excel at. With each laser focused psych persuasion technique he presents, he turns around and uses SNL witty exaggeration in self-deprecating fashion poking fun of the whole chase. It's a very original writing style that keeps the info flowing and never takes itself too serious.
Attaining the proper Alpha image, charisma, and pick up attitude are described in great detail, as an actor would approach analyzing a script. Like Sun Tzu, all battles are won before the first shot is fired. He details how to use influencial sexual persuasion, creating the sexual tension and chemistry that lures in the target, bringing much more ease and expertise to your game. It's also a self-defense manual, and what makes this so fun to read is how he describes all the unbelievable dysfunctional wackos he's encountered with jaw dropping clarity. With a raw, disquieting manner, he shows you how to see through the BS, and avoid or outcon the con-artists. It's filled with both wit and intelligence, and definitely not meant for the shy guys of the world. This is a player's guide, and all Inside Baseball. It crystalizes the sport, and cuts to the chase. You'll have alot of fun reading this one. |

I rarely post comments anywhere, but this book since really caught my attention, as it's my field. I've been to 18 weddings, and all but three ended in divorce. Each one started with starry eyed men talking about soul mates, and ended like the movie Fatal Attraction. Pretty lousy odds if you ask me. In every case, the guy lost half his assets, writes her monthly checks, and is often sued for a larger piece as his life improves. As an attorney, I can tell you pre-nups often don't mean squat anymore. This book offers bachelors a brilliant angle to tilt the cards back in men's favor. All intelligent wealthy men use it, and it's not expensive. It may create a whole movement.
Marriage is like taking a fantasy trip to Vegas, and hoping to beat the house. We all try to pick the perfect girl, but in today's litigious environment, you really have to protect the downside in case your wins become losses. In the end, the house always wins. You want to be the house.
The more money you have, you attract hotter looking women, and more devious ones. Many of these girls are cold-hearted cons in disguise, who go into marriage with the intention to divorce. In plain language, this book shows you how to stay the king of your castle, by setting up an asset protection strategy pre-marriage, legally sealing away your money from divorce and frivolous lawsuits.
Take your time and enjoy courting beautiful women. Use them, just like they are using you. Eventually the time will come when you're pressed for marriage. There is no faster way to determine if she's marrying for love or money than telling her you're assets are not in your name and sealed away in layers of trusts. The cons will flee in horror, while chewing your butt out for having the audacity to protect your own money. My clients have laughed for hours over the final scenes in my office. It's these moments that make my career so enjoyable, stopping divorce fraud from occurring.
Follow the general rules Tate lays out in the book, and get professional counsel. Nevada has the most case tested law, more experienced lawyers, and competitive rates. We're talking a life of happiness, or a life of stress and poverty for years. If you're single, that should mean the world to you. If the girl says yes after hearing about your asset protection, I bet she'll be a great wife. Although in all my years of practice, I've yet to hear of one that will.
Maybe that's why this is called The Professional Bachelor.

After reading the search inside, I could tell it's obviously a very funny book on dealing with women in a feminized culture, for both picking them up and dodging the gold diggers and users. I definitely was not disappointed in that aspect. It's light reading, and there are some seriously wicked LOLs every few pages. I've never had any trouble with the ladies, but I still picked up a bunch of stuff that I hadn't thought of before.
But I'm sure I'm like most guys who buy The Professional Bachelor; the pick up stuff was just bonus points info. I bought this book because I have a lot of money, a large salary, and am looking for preliminary reading to set up Asset Protection guide pre-marriage. Almost everyone has heard about the concept, but actually knowing how to set it up is a whole other ballgame. The explanations are very easy to read, without bogging you down with a lot of legalese. How each guy sets his up is entirely based on your specific financial situation. He covers a number of scenarios to give you a choice of directions. From what I've read, you need at least 2 entities, which is surprisingly inexpensive considering the benefits (half your net worth). Whether you have a lot of property, investments, business equipment, high risk profession, or just have valuable toys or investment collectibles, you will find answers to each. In this day an age, a robber could trip and break his leg on your lawn sprinkler and sue you. Even guys with just 50-100K needs this stuff.
Another great thing covered here is showing how self-employed men "cram down their salary". Very valuable information, since potential alimony is based on that. There's no way me, or any guy for that matter should not take advantage of what Tate has laid out here. The odds of divorce are too high to ignore.
