MSL Pointer Review:
This is a great little book with familiar characters and a simple story line, introducing the idea of using the potty to little kids in a fun way. |

My son has had this book for a year and he still loves me to read it to him. Or he loves to read it to me, as he has memorized the whole thing. He even repeats some of the lines when he goes to the toilet: "Not too much toilet paper!" As with most of the Sesame Street books, it's wonderful. |

My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book. He is a very visual child and usually flips pages so fast it is impossible to actually read him a story. But this book had his full attention from the first page. Not only does he let me read the entire story, he wants me to read it to him again and again. It is now his favorite book. And even better, when he got his new potty chair, the very next day after his bath, he went potty in the chair, initiated all on his own. This book was the only "preparation" he had for the new potty chair. I highly recommend this book. |

My son was showing some of the signs that he might be ready for his own potty, so I bought this book to introduce the basics. I was really impressed. It explains how babies wear diapers, but when they grow up, they use a potty. It also illustrates important points like not using too much toilet paper and washing your hands afterwards. It's a simple story, so it doesn't go into a lot of detail. There's no discussion of "poo-poo" or "pee-pee." It just uses the generic term "having to go." But I don't think that's a bad thing. This book isn't meant to be the only training tool you use. I think it's a great introduction to potty training. And my son can't get enough of it. He wants to read it over and over. You'll have it memorized within a week. |

This really helped with the potty training. My 24 month old little girl has memorized the book and we read it together while she used the potty. Ernie is so cute in the book! |

My son was around 18 months when we got this book for him and it caught his eye right away because of Ernie! He had seemed interested in the potty and this was just the book to help him get acquainted with it. Leave it to Sesame Street to make the introduction seemless! He still is not using the potty on a normal basis, but now he isn't shying away from it every time we go into the bathroom. I highly recommend it to any Sesame Street fan reaching the "potty age!" |

A week after reading this book every night to my son, he finally went to the potty. I have been training him for months now but never bought him a book featuring his favorite characters going to the potty. This is a great way to really motivate them. I read it to him with much excitement and he loved it. I would recommend it to any parent who is potty training their toddler. Remember to be very patient and good things will happen. |

We've just begun introducing potty themed items to my son and although he isn't ready yet to begin training he is definitely showing an interest in learning about it-he's got all the words down and loves to follow people to the bathroom. This particular book is the first I bought-he likes the bright pictures and simple words. It's a good size for him to hold himself or for us to help with, and sturdy enough to survive the many drops and tosses to the floor that go with this age. There's not too much information but enough to keep him interested. However if you were training an older child or one with a longer attention span, it might not have enough detail or pages to keep them occupied but I think it works fine for this age or for pre-training. It doesn't go into waiting and trying several times, boys standing up, accidents, etc., like some longer books do, but for this age I think it's fine that it doesn't. If you are farther along in training you might want something more in depth. The only real complaint I had is that it just says Ernie "goes" not even saying "goes potty" or being specific...however I just add the words I want my son to use in the sentence and it works just fine! I really liked that it included a hand washing step though. My son really likes that it pictures Ernie playing with blocks-one of his favorite activities so easy for him to relate to. He says "play blocks" and "big boy" at the end when Ernie goes to the potty.
Overall I recommend for anyone starting the training process or just wanting an enjoyably simple book about it for their young toddler. My son definitely recommends it also! |
