This key developmental stage happens all by itself-sometimes. More likely, the baby will need to be given a few helpful hints and guidance in the right direction-and this book is a great learning aide based on the age of most toddlers learning potty training. The pictures are simple and colorful. This book would be more appropriate for an infant. As for the book itself, it focuses on how Ernie is no longer a baby who wears diapers and is now a big boy who uses the potty. This book shows kids step by step what they’re supposed to do. It is very easy to understand, and short and sweet!

My son has had this book for a year and he still loves me to read it to him. Or he loves to read it to me, as he has memorized the whole thing. He even repeats some of the lines when he goes to the toilet: "Not too much toilet paper!" As with most of the Sesame Street books, it's wonderful. |

My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book. He is a very visual child and usually flips pages so fast it is impossible to actually read him a story. But this book had his full attention from the first page. Not only does he let me read the entire story, he wants me to read it to him again and again. It is now his favorite book. And even better, when he got his new potty chair, the very next day after his bath, he went potty in the chair, initiated all on his own. This book was the only "preparation" he had for the new potty chair. I highly recommend this book. |

My son was showing some of the signs that he might be ready for his own potty, so I bought this book to introduce the basics. I was really impressed. It explains how babies wear diapers, but when they grow up, they use a potty. It also illustrates important points like not using too much toilet paper and washing your hands afterwards. It's a simple story, so it doesn't go into a lot of detail. There's no discussion of "poo-poo" or "pee-pee." It just uses the generic term "having to go." But I don't think that's a bad thing. This book isn't meant to be the only training tool you use. I think it's a great introduction to potty training. And my son can't get enough of it. He wants to read it over and over. You'll have it memorized within a week. |

This really helped with the potty training. My 24 month old little girl has memorized the book and we read it together while she used the potty. Ernie is so cute in the book! |
