I believe this book was instrumental in making my daughter a reader. The cadence you achieve when reading it is catchy. My daughter is six years old now and I still have the book going through my head. We just bought it for some friends who are having twins. I'm positive it will be as loved as when we read it. |

This is clearly our 3 month old's favorite book. She lets out a big smile every time we start reading it. It had a great cadence to it. Lots of fun to point to the animals and embellish with animal noises, etc. But she usually wants us to return to the song-like reading of the book that is so much fun. This one is a winner every time. Snuggle Puppy is another good Boyton book too (one of Mom's favorites), however our daughter clearly likes Barnyard Dance the best. Some of the other Boyton books are not nearly as much fun for this age. |

My family and I are huge fans of Boynton books. We bought Snuggle Puppy when our first daughter was born and have been adding to our collection since then. We recently purchased Barnyard Dance and it has become our oldest daughters’ favorite book. She is 2 and just loves it. Our youngest daughter is 10 months and just laughs when she watches my husband and 2 year old dance as I read the book. They love moving around and dancing. Just a great book for family fun! |

If you've ever enjoyed square dancing (or at least the cadence of the words/music) you'll love this childhood adaptation. Rhyming is excellent, pictures are hilarious, wording is cute. As others have mentioned, it is enjoyable to read as a parent so you don't tire of it when your child asks for you to read it for the hundredth time! Absolutely a must have book for those with active toddlers! |

This is one of my son's favorite books. We have almost all the Boynton books, and the thing I love about this one is the language. The words just roll off your tongue and sound musical, even when you're not singing. My son isn't talking yet but he seems to get the "jokes" in the book, and always laughs at certain parts ("leap with the frog", and "twirl with the cow in a patch of clover" seem to tickle him, for some reason). I like the Boynton books in general because unlike a lot of the board books out there, her books are just plain fun. They're not trying to teach the kids too many lessons about letters and numbers, and I think that's appropriate for this age. They're going to have plenty of time to learn about numbers later on. At this age for us it's just about having fun and learning to like books and think reading is cool - which is exactly what this book does. 5 stars! |

I read this wonderful book it at least once or twice each Monday when we babysit our 15 month old grandson. He was only 7 months old when I first read this book to him, and almost immediately he was rocking his body to the beat of Sandra Boynton's well-written lyrics. The rich, yet age-appropriate, language of this "baby book" is impressive. Strut, bow, twirl, bounce, spin, trot and, best of all, promenade! Oh yeah, Grandpa likes this one, too! |

I am 15 years old and recently purchased this book to read to my adopted sister. It is the best and most creative children's book ever written. Truly, Barnyard Dance is powerfully compelling, and a contemporary rival to the great classics like Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild Thing Are. The illustrations and clever rhymes will have you laughing until the last page. Sandra Boynton is a master of the written word. |

Sandra Boynton’s books have become favorites in our house for our 2 1/2 year old. Barnyard Dance is another hit. This, like her other books have their trademark hilarious and silly illustrations as barnyard animals big and small dance about as a cow plays a fiddle. Accompanying the colorful and lively illustrations is Sandra’s witty and whimsical rhymes. Cows, ducks, chickens, pigs, horses, sheep...all singing and dancing about. Kids just get a big kick out of all of it. Great fun and fun to read. This is one of those very sturdy board books that will stand up to any abuse your young one can throw at it. Another winner from Sandra! |

I bought this book for my son when he was 8 months old. Now he's 2 and he picks the books to read before bed. Every night this is the first book he picks from the shelf and we must read it several times. He loves the rhythm, words, and pictures. He learned his animals from this book. I highly recommend it. |
