This book was one of the best books that I have ever read! It's a little slow at first but once you get into it you can't put it down! This book is extremely well detailed and the pictures it creates in your head are so wonderful!!! I already read this book 21 times and I had it for two months! This is the kind of book that defines a must read! Read it please! You'll be so glad you did! |

Our third grade class highly enjoyed listening to our teacher read The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. The story was exciting, adventurous, and our imaginations got plenty of exercise. We think Julie Edwards, the author, is a very descriptive writer who created fantastic pictures in our minds with her words. The out-of-the-ordinary creatures that Lindy, Tom, and Ben encountered on their journey to Whangdoodleland with Professor Savant were hilarious. There was never a dull moment because the story was filled with cliffhangers. The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles was our favorite read aloud this year. We highly recommend this book. |

I read this book around the age of eight. I fell in love with the magical land, with the professor, and with the Whangdoodle. I really believed in it too; I adopted the message of the book as a mantra- that magic is real-use your imagination. And I must admit that even ten years later I still find myself looking for the little berries in the grass. An amazing book! Anyone of any age with an imagination and the willingness to daydream ought to read this! |

This book is a great book if you aren't doing anything and have time to just sit down and read. You would think it is just like the Wizard Of Oz, and yes it is, but Julie Andrew Edwards has added a hole lot more and exciting things. As soon as I read the first chapter, it seemed kind of boring but as soon as I started reading, I couldn't stop! It is very good and if you are good at imaginaging things, you can picture this perfectly and it is very exciting at a lot of parts but if you can’t get into it, there must be a very good reason of that. Maybe you are having an "off" day and then try again. I think Julie Andrews Edwards did a very good job writing this story and it will be very exciting to see what other things that she has come out with and maybe a movie! |

I am the mother of two boys, one in fourth grade the other in fifth. Both boys enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books. They do read every night before bed and are not forced to read a book if they do not enjoy it. The boys are very involved in sports and school and have very little time to themselves after homework and scheduled activities. This book has captivated both boys. They do not want to stop reading at bedtime. My fourth grader finished the book in 3 days. I actually had to fight with him to stop reading. They really want me to read it! |

I also read this book when I was a lot younger and haven't even seen it in 10 years or so. But it has haunted my memory. I have asked all my friends if they had read it and they never had. It is one of the most touching, magical, beautiful stories. If you like magic and fantasies you will love this! And buy it for any avid young reader you know. |

I read this book at least a dozen times growing up... checking it out from the library each time. It is truly the most imaginative and wonderful book possibly ever for children. I only found out once I grew up that the author is Julie Andrews (her name listed as Julie Edwards in the book itself). That just endeared it to me even more. The characters are so distinct, especially the professor. The premise may seem off-the-wall...going to another world using the power of your mind... but the way it is written, it seems plausible. And the world they travel to is so magical and special. You feel as if you are along for the ride. I am so grateful I was introduced to this book at an early age, because it fosters in children a creativity and an idea that anything is possible. However, I think anyone of any age would get something out of the book. You have to be willing to open yourself up to something completely unrealistic, but it is worth it. |

How wonderful to see that this book is still around and getting some much deserved recognition! I read this book for many years to my second grade classes. The students always asked me to read more! What a wonderful, positive way to use and extend an imagination! A delight! |

This book is so good! Since my second grade teacher, Mrs. Ward, read it to me, it has been my favorite. I have read it many times again, and it gets better every time. It is pure fantasy in an old-fashioned sort-of setting. I love it, nothing can top it. Not even Harry Potter, and that's saying a lot! |

I first read "the Whangdoodle book" when I was about 8. I'm 31 now and have revisited it several times since. It is a delightful, fanciful tale. I recommend it to any child who wants an exciting, interesting book that will allow his or her imagination to take flight. This book is a wonderful read-aloud, and is just as enjoyable for the parents as for the children. Mrs. Edwards' tale of the Potter children and their professor friend is a companion youngsters will always remember. I would also recommend that any adult who finds himself disenchanted with the world read this book and rediscover the child within. Wonderful. |
