I am an 11 year old girl and I just finished reading this book. I love it! I found this book so encouraging and I loved the names of the creatures, like the swamp gaboons. If I knew how to contact the author I would urge her to write a seqal! I love her descriptive words. You can picture everything in your mind so easily! I would suggest this book for any Harry Potter fan. This book is now one of my favorite books and I have a feeling it always will be. |

I simply adored the book; it was full of vibrant and explicit detail. As I read through, I could picture the Whangdoodle himself! If you like Harry Potter, or Ella Enchanted, you will love the book. With a young heroine named Lindy, and a mistief like Prock, it’s an interesting story. It so good I read it in one night, I couldn’t put it down! When I rate it 5 stars, I mean 5 stars! |

I read this book like four years ago and loved it. The characters are great on the imagination and Julie Andrews paints a picture in your mind about the place that you've entered. Although it's supposed to be for 9-12-year-olds, anyone that enjoys fantasy will like this book. A great story for all ages. |

Our family read this book together every evening for awhile, and none of us wanted to stop and go to bed. It's a real page-turner, all right! Our favorite part was when the Professor doubted his ability to genetically create a mate for the Whangdoodle, and the Whangdoodle said, "Be the first! Start a fashion!" My son wants you to know that he liked the Oink the best. This is a wonderful read for the child in all of us. So step right up and read it now! |

You know, if I could I would give this book 1,000,000 stars!! This is the best book. It feels like it's giving you permission to go wild with your imagination! In this book it takes you from something as simple as some normal kids, to something as outrageous as a ship that runs on your jokes. A boat, that downstairs has an ice cream maker, that when you tell the mirror what you want, it gives you whatever thing you wanted! This book takes you on a wild adventure through dangerous lands. If you read this book you'll be sure to enjoy it! |

When my fourth grade teacher read us this book in class, my entire class was captivated. Not only were the characters unique and amusing, but its lesson was one that has stayed with me for years. Its message, that one should never underestimate the power of imagination and dreams, is important for all children to know. Julie Edwards paints a colorful world filled with excitement, hope, and wonder. Even as a sophomore in college, I still look to The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles as an inspirational story that captivates the heart as well as the imagination. |

This book is amazing! My God sister used to keep us after school when we were young and she read this book one chapter a day. I couldn't wait to get to her home and pick up where we had left off from the day before... As an adult I have searched for this book for years only to find out that it was out of print and that a local bookstore had 3 copies in the warehouse! Of course I bought all 3 and reread the Whangdoodles adventures as an adult and fell in love all over again! I ended up reading it to my 7th and 8th grade students and found them hanging on every word just as I did years ago. As an adult I was able to appreciate the adventure and fantasy but also found deeper meaning and morality in the story line. I recommend this book to all ages and am excited to see its 30th anniversary has put it back on the shelf! |

I read this book to my fourth grade classes every year the first quarter of school. It's my favorite book and we talk about it the whole year long. The characters just come to life for us and the kids have a ball each year. My favorite characters are the Oinck and the Splintercat. In my classroom, they come complete with silly voices. |

I was first introduced to this book in the 3rd grade, when my teacher began reading it to the class for an hour everyday after lunch. I never wanted it to end, and even when I read it today, almost 15 years later, I get upset when I finish the last page. The imagery is amazing. I truly recommend this book to anyone. |

The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is the all-time favorite book for my sons and I and we have read many, many books. We liked this book better than Harry Potter, Holes, the BFG, Chronicles of Narnia, etc. In fact, after the first time we read it, my youngest son told me that during school, this book was all he could think about. He was in second grade at the time. We have read it again since and both my boys (ages 9 and 11) still identify it as their favorite. The main characters, three children and a professor, travel to a truly magical land in search of the last Whangdoodle. The Whangdoodles are near extinction because humans have lost their imaginations. |
