New York Times Best-seller, this is the third book in the bestselling teen Clique series. |
- MSL Picks -
Massie Block, the leader of The Clique, is furious when she hears about Alicia's plans to form her own clique. After all, she's the leader, and that's how it should stay. Besides, doesn't Alicia realize that messing with Massie will do nothing more than leave her in one very undesired place - The Reject Pile? As for new-girl turned It-girl Claire Lyons, she's finally in. Not only is she a coveted member of the Clique, but she's also got Cam, a Briarwood boy, showering her with affection. But will Massie be willing to keep Claire in her inner circle, or dump her like last season's Sevens? Kristen Gregory, she's in the middle of two cliques, and her friendship is now more coveted than the new Louis Vuitton bag. The question is, whom will she choose? Dylan Marvil, she knows that Massie is up to something bad. Real bad. What it is, she has no idea. She might not stick around to find out. But if she leaves the Clique to join Alicia's new clique, will Massie replace her with a Dylan clone? Then there's Alicia Rivera. She may have credit cards and clothes galore. But does she truly have what it takes to be the leader of a clique?
I will be the first to admit that The Clique has become one of my biggest guilty pleasure reads. The characters are enjoyable vicious, stuck-up, and rich, with the chauffeur's, credit cards, and clothes to prove it. Their many rude confrontations with each other couldn't be more exciting to read about, and the amount of name-dropping they do will keep any celebrity monger on their toes. Lisi Harrison has struck gold with this series, and it only keeps getting better and better. If you're looking for something reminiscent of GOSSIP GIRL, check out The Clique. I dare you.

Lisi Harrison was born in the fashion capital of our neighbor to the north, Toronto, Canada. She was the Queen Bee of many cliques and kept copious records of them in the journals she always had with her - a hobby she has to this day. After university, Lisi moved to New York City where she began a career creating and developing shows for MTV, including "Room Raiders." Lisi also was the head writer for MTV Productions and a columnist for Jane magazine. Now that she has given up the glamour to write for teens full time, Lisi is currently at work on the next book in The Clique series with creative consulting done by Bee Bee, her fashionista Chihuahua.

From School Library Journal
Grade 6-8 - They're back! The rich, designer name-dropping, thoroughly conceited and obnoxious seventh-grade girls of Octavian Country Day School in Westchester, NY, return to compete against one another for who'll be the reigning queen of the school's "in crowd." Super-wealthy, super-indulged Alicia Rivera switches ballot boxes in the vote for a school uniform so that she wins instead of super-wealthy, super-indulged Massie Block. Readers will battle through their annoyance with and desire to choke these two girls, for the believability and humanity found in Claire and Kristen keep the story line moving. Massie and Alicia make mistakes, everyone interferes in the others' lives and loves, and all of the characters learn about their own limitations. But this is not for every collection; not-so-wealthy urban teens might prefer stories by Jacqueline Woodson, and country teens might rather read Audrey Couloumbis's tales of growing and learning without the trappings of flaunted wealth.

Ok, Revenge of the Wannbes is all about five girls going to Octavian Country School. Four of them (now five, since Claire is included now!) are in a close clique, and they're mean to many of the other students. One girl in the clique, Alicia, is fed up with Massie (the leader) and decides that she wants to defy her. Massie is horrified!
Meanwhile, Claire and Cam are having some relationship problems, since Massie is always butting in.

This is the third book in the Clique series that revolves around the hilarious antics of the gutsy and gullible Massie Block and Alicia Rivera, who run the show at the Octavian Country Day School (OCD). In this episode, Alicia is fed up with being beta to Massie's alpha. She wants out of the Pretty Committee to start her own clique. She strikes first by switching the ballot boxes in the OCD school uniform design contest to make sure that Massie doesn't win and she does. As the so-called winner, Alicia is asked to model for Teen People magazine and also to invite a few friends to the fashion shoot, which she uses as bait to lure the unpopular girls into her clique. She soon discovers that the care and feeding of a clique is a lot harder than it looks. What with clever carpool conversation to conjure, juicy gossip to track, dirty tricks to plan, and oh so many backs to stab, Alicia has her hands full. Meanwhile Massie gets wind of the ballot box switcheroo, the photo shoot, and the new clique. She plots her revenge. What ensues is no ordinary cat fight because these girls are both ruthless AND rich. Armed with limos and credit cards, no evil mischief or expense is too over-the-top, no matter whom they trample in the process. When the fur flies, nobody's secret is safe.
A fast-paced, fun read, Revenge of the Wannabes is like Absolutely Fabulous for teens. Alicia and Massie are as outrageous and obnoxious as Patsy and Edina, which makes for non-stop, wacky comedy.

I loved this book! The Revenge of the Wannabes (The Clique, #3) is better than the first two Clique books. This book is about Alicia, mainly, who tries to branch out away from the "Pretty Commitee". Her friends from jazz class say things like, "you have more money than Massie", "Your house is much bigger", "You should have your own sleepovers". Alicia follows their advice, but she get more than she can handle. Massie, K, & D make sure Alicia gets what she is asking for. The thing that hurts Alicia the most is when they say Claire is the new Alicia. Read the book to find out who wins this catfight! |

I really enjoy the clique series. They always keep me turning the pages and this one did just that. In this book you get to hear Alicia's side of the story, which is interesting. My only complaint was that sometimes Alicia's side of the story got a little annoying, but besides that, it was a good book!
