Quite simply the most unusual and most well done spirituality title around.

A refreshing, no-holds-barred course in spirituality... This book had me saying to myself over and over, 'Now that makes sense.

This is one of the only spiritual books I've ever read that I literally couldn't put down. It's non-fiction (at least according to the author) but it reads as good as any novel. In fact, it's a real page turner. It has more advanced spiritual information than any other book I've seen but because of the down to earth clarity of the discussions it makes everything very understandable. Even though the main teaching in the book is A Course in Miracles which was dictated to Helen Schucman by Jesus (the historical Jesus, not the icon from organized religion) I think that anyone on a spiritual path, whether they're interested in A Course in Miracles or not, will gain tremendous insight from this mind blowing book. I'd recommend reading it twice to really get it. As far as I'm concerned, 5 stars is not enough!

Every so often, a book comes along that has the potential to completely transform the way people think about a subject. In the business world, In Search of Excellence, the One Minute Manager and From Good to Great come quickly to mind. In the people development world, books like The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and Emotional Intelligence have been transformational.

In the spiritual development circle, the Disappearance of the Universe has moved to the top of my list. The book is quite simply, amazing. AND you have to be ready for it.

Are you ready? Are you ready to have your view of life, spirituality, religion and sex turned upside down? Are you ready to have your questions answered about why you are here, how you got here, why God "allows good people to suffer," and how you end this seeming craziness? Are you ready to learn with crystal clarity how you experience "the peace of God?"

When I introduce the Disappearance of the Universe to my many Christian friends who are unfamiliar with A Course in Miracles, I remind them, that if I were around when Jesus walked the earth, and if I were a strong believer in the Book of Moses, I would have had to reject Jesus. Why? Because I would have been looking at Jesus through my Moses "glasses" and what Jesus said in many cases didn't fit with what I already believed. The only way I would have been open is if I could have found a way to take off my glasses and ask, "Does this resonate as true? Does this answer the questions in my soul? Does this turn me to God?" Only then might I have had a chance to truly learn from the Master.

In the same way, anyone who reads The Disappearance of the Universe with the glasses of Christianity will have to reject the book, because it does not support all that we've been taught. But if you are ready, and if you can take off the glasses and ask those questions, you will likely find answers that transform your thinking and transform your life.

If you are already familiar with A Course in Miracles, this book is a must-read. I had studied the Course for over a decade, and even served as a group facilitator for several years. I was humbled by how little I understood and truly practiced non-dualism and how I had missed the critical message of practicing forgiveness every moment of every day as THE key tool for making the "journey without distance." The conversations in the Disappearance of the Universe make crystal clear the purpose of practicing forgiveness, the steps in how to do it, and the way to live in this world as a teacher of God. Perhaps most importantly, the message is completely consistent with A Course in Miracles, which is quoted over 300 times by Gary Renard's special visitors.

So read this book if you are ready to have many of your beliefs challenged and if you are ready to learn how to truly experience and express the peace and love of God.

This book contains an entire presentation of a holographic thought system that is nothing less than amazing. It does it all within a story in which time is also holographic, and the three people who are taking place in the discussions all turn out to have relationships with each other that have gone on forever. They actually end up helping each other to achieve enlightenment. The Disappearance of the Universe is a great read and a fantastic teaching tool. I was enthralled by it.

I loved this book and laughed out loud several times while reading it. The Disappearance of the Universe has a good sense of humor, and you probably won't like this book unless you have a good sense of humor. It completely covers everything you could want to know about why the world is the way that it is and how to go home to God in an accelerated program that leads to enlightenment. This book NEVER claims to be the "only way," and neither does A Course in Miracles, which is the major spiritual teaching that The Disappearance of the Universe eventually gets into. The Course describes itself as "one form of the universal curriculum, of which there are thousands." They all lead to God in the end. You don't have to be interested in the Course to get a lot out of this book, though, just someone who wants to know as much about spirituality as you can. I learned more from this book than any 10 other books.

This book, The Disappearance of the Universe, by Gary Renard, is the best spiritual book I've ever read. I learned more about what true spirituality is all about from this book than any other ten spiritual books I've ever read, including the most popular ones that are out there. That's because this book focuses on the cause rather than the effect, and on fixing the one real problem (the idea and experience that we are separate from our Source) instead of making illusions real. The great teaching aid of this book is a certain kind of forgiveness, but not the traditional kind. Many examples are given as the author applies to his life the teachings that are given to him by the masters in the book. It's the application of the teachings that leads to awakening from the dream of separation. As Buddha said, "I am awake." When he said that, he wasn't talking about manifesting our desires, he was talking about waking up from them. That's the difference between this book and the others.
  • Jacob Walsch (MSL quote), USA   <2006-12-31 00:00>

This book is just as much fun to read as any novel, with a great sense of humor and many twists and turns. In terms of its spirituality, The Disappearance of the Universe is a book that focuses on the undoing of the ego and removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence. This is classic spirituality in the tradition of Buddhism, but is done, I believe, on a faster scale because of the added dimensions from A Course in Miracles, which is the major teaching this book gets into eventually. (After The Gospel of Thomas and other interesting subjects are covered.) The focus of the "undoing" types of spirituality is not on love, for that is what we are. The focus is on undoing that which is not love. When you do that then love is all that's left. That's the focus of The Disappearance of the Universe, A Course in Miracles, and Buddhism. BTW, some have said that this is the best book ever written about A Course in Miracles because after reading this book one can then actually understand the Course. I"d agree with that observation.
