This book is a valuable study resource for anyone planning on sitting for the PHR exam. I just passed the exam on my first attempt, with the use of this book, the Certgear download, and a combination of 8 years of Human Resource and Payroll background. I read the book in it's entirety, and took all of the chapter exams. On the CD which is supplied with the book, I used all the flashcards, and took both sets of tests, those for the PHR and also those for the SPHR. Along with the Certgear prep exams(which I downloaded 3 days before my actual test date) I found that the content of the questions on the actual exam were worded in a very similar manner.
This book supplied the basics, and included web addresses for more detailed information in each chapter. |

I did self study for my PHR but failed the online mini-test - so with less than a week before my real test and in a total state of freak out - I picked up this book and crammed for the next 6 days! 2 days before the real test I took the online test again and passed, but I was still worried because there were things on that PHR exam that were not in this book. I wrote down a few of those items and looked them up online on my own. I took the test last Monday and passed - and I owe it all to this book. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because like I said there were things on the exam that are not even mentioned in this book, but it covers enough to get you to pass it. I also recommend going to the us dept of labor website and going through some of the items there - it was very helpful too.
