In Europe, the collection currently comprises 17 Michelin Guides, including English-language versions of the Michelin Guide France and the Michelin Guide Paris. The Michelin Guide is also making its entry into Asia with the publication of the first edition of the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2008 in November.
Thanks to a rigorous selection process that is applied independently and consistently around the world, the Michelin Guide has become an international benchmark in gourmet dining. The selection is made by anonymous, professional inspectors who are Michelin employees and is based on the same working methods in all countries.
For more than a century, Michelin Guides have helped travelers enjoy better mobility by offering qualified restaurant and hotel recommendations throughout Europe. Now representing 17 countries and two continents, the collection of 22 Michelin Guides includes more than 45,000 addresses. Its team of highly trained inspectors visits establishments anonymously, applying Michelin's international standards for quality across many categories. In North America, the company has introduced Michelin Guides for New York City and San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country, with plans to publish 2008 guides to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Michelin has also announced that it will introduce the Michelin Guide to Tokyo, Japan. For more information, visit www.michelinguide.com.

From Publisher
This is the standard to which all Paris chefs aspire and three stars is the greatest accolade they can achieve, in spite of more new-wave guides coming along. Entries only get into this guide when they have proven their durability and reliability, so it is utterly dependable. The guide is so logical in every way that it can be used as a road map and street guide to major cities too.

I initially did not purchase this book based on the previous review that indicated its content was limited. I bought Michelin France instead. That was a mistake! The Paris guide has all the same hotels & restaurants that the France guide has (not just expensive restaurants or those with stars, but ALL the Michelin rated restaurants). Plus, it has additional descriptions of each restaurant in English (thankfully!), photos, and maps. Michelin is the premier restaurant guide book in France and you can't go wrong with its advice. This is the one you want if you are just visiting Paris. |

First off, I don't have a problem with this book in any way, shape or form....it comes with very detailed maps of each arrondissment (sp?), a detailed metro (subway) map, and an additional fold-up, take with you map. The reviews are detailed, including decor and service. It even has several indexes for Outdoor Dining, Moderate Prices, Large Wine Selection, and breakdown by Cuisine...But for a budgeted traveler from the US with the weak dollar, it was difficult to eat at many of the restaurants listed in this book... And again, this is not a fault of michelin, but of me...i just wanted to point out to the potential buyer that it is tough to find a dinner menu in this book for less the 30 euro's ($45 as of 10/07)... |
